Wendy......"You are the Placebo"......I love the title!
We can also be our own enemies...the opposite of the placebo, or the "nocebo", feeding into the negativity of cancer and xascerbating a destructive, self-fulfilling prophesy of gloom and doom. I'm trying my hardest not to be an example of that behavior, but it's getting harder and harder. That's why I need you all to keep me in a positive, fighting frame of mind, and I thank you all for your love and support.
Let us know if that book is worth perusing, Wendy.
Hugs,
L

Raewyn , the pictures from your trip are wonderful. A lovely family experience. Paula thanks for the tip to pick one thing and do it every day. I was having a lot of back pain and spasms and feeling down. So today I took that walk to buy some fresh veggies at the farmers market. Not quite a mile. Maybe 1/2 mile. Then I took a long rest. It helped a lot. No more making lists for me.

It's always hard to stay positive when we feel like crap-ola. But what a difference a day can make. Hang in there Lita, we need your good humor and grace here.

I hear rads to the bone can cause neuropathy, too...at least that's what I HOPE this new "discomfort" is. I've got some cannabis rub...gonna try that tonight.
I'll have another scan in 3 wks, so I'll know soon enuf what this really is.
Keeping everyone in prayer, and hope you all have a pain-free, productive weekend. I'm going to attempt to wash the dog's bedding and blankets and do some vacuuming tomorrow, and that will probably do me in.
DH and DD are going to a Giants game late tomorrow afternoon, so I'll just open a can of soup for my dinner...no muss, no fuss.

Lita take care of yourself don't do to much. I'm finding the heat difficult everything swells up and aches. Im thinking of you

Thanks, Wendy! Got DD and DH to help with the dog's laundry and mop the kitchen floor, so now all I have to do is vacuum, which I don't mind because I have a Miele vacuum that pretty much propels itself. It was an anniversary gift a couple of years ago from DH, and I love it.
Everyone take care!

Raewyn, beautiful quilt, what a beautiful family! I hope everyone's weekend is going well, hugs and smiles all around!
So, I just finished my first day of chemo yesyerday. 7 hours. I had a reaction to the herceptin within the first 30 min. I was relaxing, almost dozing off, and the pain started, like flu body aches all over, came on fast, back ache, legs, arms then neck, I was shivering/shaking/trembling involuntarily. They stopped for 30 min, gave me Demerol to stop the shaking, I ended up getting about 4 blankets piled on, more benedryl and just waited it out. I could breath and I told my nurse about it right away, they were very attentive, stayed with me the entire time.
I got my port just the day before, less than 24 hrs before I started my treatment. I wish I could have had a week to heal before starting chemo, my sternum hurts terribly, all underneath my breasts, very tender, like I was crushed or sat on. The port site looks good but hurts down the vein and it hurts to take a deep breath in, 30 hrs now gone by since I got home.
Treatment went as such: Port plugged into, saline solution first, then Tylenol by mouth, benedryl w saline, steroid (I already forgot which one), then herceptin, pause, Demerol, saline, benedryl, finish herceptin, next up perjita (went fine, no issues), then finished with taxotere, saline to flush line and done.
I don't have to go in again until 8/25/17
Update: my kidneys really hurt, I'm going to have stop taking any of my painkillers that have Tylenol, I'm worried I'm masking a fever. I don't think my kidneys should be hurting like this, anyone has this side effect after first round?
Danae (Dani, Danny...

Wow, dani, glad you're ok. I never heard of a reaction like that to Herceptin but I had terrible reactions to taxotere, then taxol and couldn't continue either of them. The port area may be tender for a couple weeks and I've never experienced the kidney pain you refer to but can say that I was only allowed tramadol for pain, no fever reducers at all. You might want to post the reaction to Herceptin on the triple positive thread for more feedback.

Linda, Happy 8th Anniversary! Your words are very encouraging for me, nearing 1-year post-Dx, with bone mets, new Lung mets, and trying to come up with a crystal ball game plan for the next X-number of years. Glad to hear the Tx's are working for you! All blessings for your 9th year, GraceDD.

Dianarose~. 💕 Hope you're on the mend. Hanging with my DH. And he and I are taking DS to the airport. I already feel anxious watching him go and he's 20? Does the mama bird ever have that become easier lol? Ugh!😰
All are always in my prayers. ~M~

Hi Patty !!! So good to see you.
Thanks Grace DD. It sometimes feels like I've been having treatment forever. As soon as I can I will share more about the study I'm on, that some of you may be able to part of for metastatic breast cancer.
M, I've had many many times taking my son back to the airport and no I don't think it gets any easier to see him leave, but so grateful for the time I get with him. sniff sniff
