Happy birthday, Nicky! We're throwing a 90th and 53rd joint birthday party tonight for two of our friends. The 90 year old says she's not had a proper party since her mum died when she was 7. So we have champagne, banners, balloons, flowers, cakes, candles, etc. Should be fun. And we'll celebrate your birthday at the same time, Nicky, and toast you with our champagne!

Happy Birthday, Nicky! I hope you had a great day yesterday.
I finally caught up on this thread. Firelady, Nicky, Janet and Romansma - am thinking of you and your new tx plans (and anyone else I missed). I hope everyone's tx (new or old) goes well, with minimal SEs and maximum results!
Love and hugs to all, Amy

Ebru, I have that Hoya growing at the end of my patio! It smells heavenly!

Beautiful flower, Erbu! We had another monarch emerge this morning; so lovely to watch them dry their wings in the sunshine. So nice to see sunshine after rather shocking "summer" weather in January. Bring on real summer!
Hugs to all of you,

Nicky: Have another great day as you continue to celebrate! My prayers are continuing for all of you guys as we continue our journey. I finished my 3rd and final dose of steriotactic radiation therapy to L2 spine. Mine was a bad experience since #1 was severe bloody vomiting coupled with angioedema that may or may not have been triggered from a blood pressure medication. #2 was event free since I was on steroids and taking Zofran (I think). #3 was a repeat of #2 but no blood and no angioedema. I had 2 episodes of severe vomiting but I walked with my Zofran and took it right after the second vomiting. I am good now and no ER. what is passing me off the RO will not confirm that the radiation caused it. All she is saying is that she has never seen this before. Oh well.

thanks again everyone! Faslodex seems to be treating me well for the moment; apart from the night sweats and hot flashes which have increased I don't seem to have any other se's now.
I hope everyone else is doing well!

has anyone been in a lee011 trial or know anything about se from lee011? New phase iii trials seem to be starting. They have one with Femara so far. Wondering if I should wait for that to combine with Faslodex rather than trying to travel for palbociclib but might have to travel anyway.....

Happy birthday Nicky! I know its late but its always good to extend the celebration! I was just dx with mets last month, weeks before my bday (tomorrow). I could be very well be depressed about it but Im choosing not to. I will make it my goal to celebrate every day that I live and even more so if its a pain free kind of day! Just started my treatment so not having any SE yet except for soreness. I look forward to hearing from everyone! So grateful for this site!

Hey there everyone,
I have started on Xeloda last month and the se's are not being verywell tolerated by my system. I started cycle 2 this past Tuesday and I am still not recovered from the last cycle of se's. I started on Femara which worked really well for me for 2 1/2 years then when it stopped working went to Tamoxifen which did absolutely nothing so now I am on Zeloda. Anyone have any advice for handeling the mouth sores? I have the hand/foot syndrom pretty much under control. I hate using a walker, but some days it is that or stay in bed which makes my bone hurt more. Has anyone else been freezing all the time while on Xeloda? I just cannot seem to get warm even sitting on the hearth with a roaring fire ablaze! I also have developed hand tremors but I do not know if that is from the Xeldoa or something else. Radiation on my spine, hip and ribs has helped with some of the pain from those areas.
On top of all this my port has decided it would not give a blood return so I had to get stuck in my lower inside wrist and the back of my hand for all the blood draws. This was more than I could handle and I lost all emotional controll and cried for 3 solid weeks, so now I have a shrink added tio my list of Doctors! He requested that my onco have a port study done and get my port working then I would be fine. So after the port study they are going to try different positions when they go to draw blood and if they still cannot get it to draw then they will have to replace my port. Maybe it is a good thing I now have a shrink to help hold me together.
Any information on how to handle the se's of Xeloda would be appreciated.
Joy and blessings, AJ

AJ for your mouth sores up your intake of folinic acid and get a script for 'magic mouthwash'. There are recipes for this on the web but because it has lidocaine in it you need that prescription.
I have had mouth sores pretty much all my life and have found that keeping the mouth super clean also helps. Rinsing your mouth often with a solution bi carb soda and water also helps to ease their pain and this you can do as often as you like. The magic mouth wash is great before meals and before bed.
I can't help with the Xeloda SEs as I've not used it but there is a Xeloda thread on BCO that I know is super helpful.
Having a shrink is a good thing and there is no shame in needing one while dealing with the crap of BC. Hoping things can even out for you and Xeloda works well.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

AJ,
I've no advice about xeloda either because I haven't had it, I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're having such a hard time and to send you ((((hugs))))).
I hope you get your port sorted out; it'll be one less problem to deal with. As Chrissie has said, it's a good thing to see a shrink. They're there to help you, so make sure you take full advantage. You've a lot on your plate and needing some help to deal with it all is perfectly natural. I hope it helps.
Nicky
