Yeah, I forgot to mention the facial hair. I've been plucking whiskers off my chinny chin chin for years already (I'm 52) but do notice that there seem to be a few more now. Plus I'm getting the old lady soft peach fuzzy type hair all along my jaw line.

years ago I dealt with my dark nasty facial hair with electrolys, woman was awesome and told funny stories the entire time she was torturing you! worked so well, I did not need her anymore till the nasty Al came along, unfortunately now she dropped off the radar and think she retired!

Murphy's Law - I was at the GPs office when the MO's office called and left me a message to offer me an appt tomorrow with associate MO. I like the associate MO and would go to see her if I didn't get anywhere with GP.
My GP thinks I have a pinched nerve in my neck/shoulder that is causing trouble down my arm and chest on right side. He is sending me for U/S and chest xray on Tuesday.
I called MOs office back and cancelled appt for tomorrow. Will see what happens with U/S and xray before going any further.
I want to get this sorted out before my surgery on Feb 27 - right side is my IV side!
As for peach fuzz - none here at the moment. I did have some after my hair started to grow back but it fell off. Now I just have really dry skin where a beard would be and I use Calendula oil and that helps. But I have to reapply a couple of times a day.

MarieK - not sure how you feel about chiropractors but if I had a pinched nerve that's the first place I'd go. Anything with my neck or back or anything that could be related to neck or back (which is just about everything) I have my chiropractor get me straightened out first. If I'm all in alignment and still having pain, then I go to my GP.

Peach fuzz question--waxing? Anyone tried that? I've been wondering.
On joint issues--my hip joints were pretty darned painful for those few seconds after standing. For a couple of days, I've been taking two aspirin two or there times/day, and guess what--way, way, less pain. Sure hoping this continues! I see my MO in a month or so, am hoping all will be well by then.

I tried waxing but the person who did it...dripped wax on my chest....plus, it yanks out all the hairs covered whicih includes small ones I was happy to have left. Course it did not do a good job on the stiff black ones...so I ended up plucking them (actually, the tech plucked them~~~)
you need to test dif folks but for me, I gave up after 2 dif folks were dumb

I'm gonna come of the closet and say right out 'I USE MY HUSBANDS RAZORS! 😏. Yea that's right I have shaven my whole face and neck to get rid of the peach fuzz. So far no problems but I will keep you updated if I wake up one morning looking like Santa.

Brookside, be careful if you are taking aspirin. It can cause bleeding. You might check with your doctor about what he/she recommends for the pain. If the joint pain is related to the Arimidex, have you tried Claritin? It seems that many ladies take it to help with the joint/bone pain that comes from the medication.

I just started taking Arimidex (Anastrozole) Monday 2/10/14 now for the next five years. How soon do feel side effects or see any? So far so good. Im little worried taking this medication, I know I have too. So now I am a cancer survivor? I start with which date? the date I finished radiation treatments, was Feb. 6, 2014.? Any information on Armidex would love to know. THANKS!!!

Thanks, Rhody. I've been taking the generic of claritin for a couple of weeks and it doesn't seem to have done anything to help. When my 30 pills are gone, I'll stop. If a couple of days of aspirin knock the hip pain back into the tolerable range, I'll stop it, maybe try aleve if the pain comes back with a vengeance. I see my onc in a few weeks and will pick his brain for the best solution. If I can make arimidex work for me ;long term, I'll be happy.

first thing most oncos will do is to switch the AL to see if that makes a dif
for me, I complained when I started femara, MO switched me but it turned out that the pain I was having was from my new statin so careful not to blame all on the AL....which of course we all do!

I'm laughing at myself too. When chemo takes our hair, we get upset. We get sort of used to not having hair, anywhere.
Then we sprout hair, and celebrate. Except for peach fuzz on the face. And get annoyed with it.
I did all of that, as most of us do. I guess I'm feeling goofy from the cold, it strikes me as a little funny.

I finally got so tired of the peach fuzz on the sides of my face I used the Sally Hansen DIY wax strips you get at the drug store. I did it about a month ago and so far, I am fuzz free.

You can get those little tiny personal razors for bikini hair areas that are less 'razory' then regular size ones.

Ruthbru, love your new avatar! I wanted to echo your comment that the personal tiny razors are much safer for removing unwanted facial hair (an other stray hairs in other places) than a normal razor. Has anyone tried NONO that they advertise for hair removal? I was interested but would like to have a testimonial. (I am on Femara, but I have been reading this thread and it has helped me a lot....thank you!!!)

Question for everyone- My MO told me to take calcium/vit d but not how much. How much were you told to take?

2,000 units of D3 (I take 1,000 AM, 1,000 PM) and 500 mg of calcium.
I have to tell everyone that after three or four days of taking a couple of aspirin a couple of times/day, the incredible hip pain I was feeling on standing has pretty much disappeared. I guess some inflammatory process was the head culprit and I blamed poor (almost) innocent arimidex for the whole thing. What a relief! I sure hope this indeed proves to be the magic solution.

Happy Valentines Day!
Saw back surgeon on Tuesday and my herniated disc repair was very successful. The 1-1/2 inch incision is healing well and I am now pain free. I do have some minor sciatic pain down left leg still, but nothing like prior to surgery. Dr. says this is normal after surgery and will subside over time. He released me to return to work March 3. Will begin some physical therapy in April to strengthen my core. In the interim I am building my stamina with walking DVDs. Too nasty to go outside.
Saw onc yesterday and all is well. Lab work is great, scars are great, lungs are clear, all is good. He was very pleased. SE effects from anastrozole are minimal; basically just some stiffness when first getting up in the morning or after having sat too long, and an occasion hot flash. I have been placed on 6 month recall schedule. YEAH!
For the first time in a long time I am beginning to feel good again. I turn 58 Sunday and actual free 58 and not 85 as I had previously post chemo and with that awful back/leg pain. I think I've turned the corner.

Happy to hear your good news ! ... Also, happy 58 th birthday coming up, we are the same age.
Try not to overdo it, which is easy to do when you start feeling so much better..
