Octogirl, I think a couple of kitties would be perfect. And you do need two so they aren't lonely. For me, I only adopt adults now. I know you'll find the perfect companion(s)! Enjoy having your son home!!!
Horsegirl, thank you for the encouraging words. We all have burdens along with our breast cancer. I miss the companionship of DH but know that the nursing home is the only place for him. I don't tell him all the changes I'm making because I think they would upset him and he'd feel I was cutting him out of my life. It's taken a long time to get to this place - finally!
SweetMamaJ, damn on the migraine! It must be so hard for you to do anything. Argh! Please no pedestal. I'm like you - doing what has to be done because there's not really a choice about it. Keep up the coffee and even if it doesn't help it does taste good! Take care!
Josalive, wish your lx experience had been better. At least it is over and behind you and you can look forward now! How amazing that you had such a complete response to chemo! Were the oncs amazed? You can breathe now! And to have it take care of the liver tumor is wonderful. We're glad you found us because this is the most warm and supportive group ever! Will you be taking tamoxifen? Or an AI? Remember to take it easy and let your body heal from all the surgeries. That requires a lot of energy so give your body the break it needs. Hope you are comfortable today. Lounge around with coffee, wine, a good book, tv or just inhaling the day!
HUGS to you all!

OMG - Octogirl I totally need to go visit my Aunt Sophie. She really really needs me. She's not been feeling well AT ALL. Maybe I could take her out for a massage next week...I've been meaning to do that!
I'm surviving sweetmama. I had an "Acute Hypersensitivity Reaction" to dose #7 of Taxol when my MO decided to cut my steroid dose in half. I have to switch to Abraxane now - no choice. My body has fully rejected Taxol in a life threatening way (1% of people have the reaction I had). right now I am BLOATED and exhausted and frightened for Friday - but that dear ladies is a topic for another board on another day :-)

Oh Tresjoli! HUGS, HUGS, HUGS! How scary! I'm so sorry that happened to you, and I think anyone would be frightened to try a new drug! I'm sure you will be very carefully monitored when they start the Abraxane, and will have all resources available just in case you have another reaction. Hope that will be some small comfort on Friday. Are you alone now? Is there someone with you to give a giant hug and help take care of things? I am sending as much positive energy your way along with non-stop virtual hand holding and hugs! You are not alone--we are all here to support you! xoxox, sweetmamaj

TResjoli2, OMG! That's awful! Thank heavens you were where medical help was instantly available! I'll be thinking of you Friday. Totally understandable that you are worried about Friday. Hope it is totally uneventful!
HUGS!!!

Hi Josalive! I forgot to say Welcome! So you had your Lx and SNB yesterday? I'm glad you found us and thanks for filling us in on how surgery went. I agree, the lidocaine before the nuclear med injection was not fun, nor was the nausea post op. But the benign tissue in your nodes, the breast tumor area, and in your liver is more than wonderful! They told me to keep the surgical bra on 24/7 except when showering of course, and that unlike my stereotactic Bx, I could shower the next day. So whenever you are allowed, I encourage you to keep the incision sites clean. I had some leftover surgical scrub soap, which I just gently dribbled over my incisions and rinsed off.
Keep us posted and Hugs to you!

SO sorry to hear about your reaction Tresjolie! How scary and how awful! Sending my HUGS also!! Will they increase the steroids again along with switching drugs?
I'd say Aunt Sophie needs more than just a massage!
Take care of yourself and please let us know what we can do to help. xoxxoxoxox

Welcome josalive! Congratulations on your PCR - awesome! Trejolie - so scary, hope you are recovering well!!!
Well, I am packing to leave tomorrow with DH to fly to Colorado. Our DD(14) and DS(12) have been at summer camp for an entire month. This camp is near and dear to my heart. I went to it as well as my mom did. It's been around 95 years! But, the hard part is the only communication with the kids is back and forth snail mail ( no technology allowed ) So, they were gone for my LX and recovery. A blessing on one hand but they were very worried and concerned when they left....especially DD. my husband did call after surgery and they were informed it all went well. But, I know they will be relieved to see I am ok. And I can't wait to see them!!!! I'm sure I'll shed a few tears at our reunion.
Parents weekend here I come
Michelle aka plumster0 -
Thank so much for all the warm welcomes!! Such a sweet group!

Have a great time, Michelle!!!
BlueDog, I wouldn't say we are "sweet" but we sure are a nice, rowdy, warm, caring, loving and comforting group. A bit too feisty to be sweet, I think! Glad you found us!
HUGS!!!

Have a wonderful time plumster! I am in a similar position this weekend....my nephew (sister's oldest) is getting married Sunday night in Reno, where he grew up and where my sister still lives. Big casual party, to be proceeded by a family party for out of towners Saturday night. Nearly all of my extended family will be there, including both my DD and DS, both of my grandkids (yay!) and my sisters, various cousins, aunts, uncles etc. So, spending the weekend, then taking a few days off on the way home for rest, relaxation and a bit of time with the kids. I am anticipated a few tears, especially from my daughter. Haven't seen her or son since dx, but I've talked to them on the phone, and DD has been the most upset.
But meanwhile, work went only a bit better today: I lasted till three then had to head home. Breast feels swollen today. Hubby had to cook again while I rested on the couch. And OF COURSE work is heating up and there is more to do than I can get done this week. Sigh. Oh well, it will still be there when I get back, right?
Hugs to all!
Octo.

Hello all, old friends and welcome to those new! I'm happy to report I had my six-month post radiation diagnostic mammogram today and received the hoped for "no suspicious findings" result! I see the doctor next week, but am so relieved. I wasn't sure I'd even get the results today so this was great. My tummy is messed up tonight (as I was pretty nerve wracked today) so tomorrow will definitely be a take it easy day.

Reader425, what great news! I'll bet your nerves were a mess. Now you can breathe, sleep and, most of all, relax! I was surprised that the mammo didn't hurt my bad girl at all. Perhaps the tech was especially gentle, if so, thank you.
HUGS!!!

Josalive, Welcome! Wonderful news that you responded so well to chemo. Plumster1 (Michelle) have a wonderful time and hug those kiddos tight. Octogirl, enjoy your family time at the wedding. Hello reading Congratulations on the clean mammogram!
I enjoyed the movie this morning. Mostly because grandson loved it. I call him my heart and soul. Enjoying the last couple days of recovery and back to work Monday. I have 3 weeks to prepare for my next surgery. I am reading the TE thread and reading what I need to be prepared for a mastectomy. My skin tore when my surgeon removed the bandages so I am putting ointment on the sore spots. How long did your restrictions last? She told me that I could work back to my regular routine over 3-4 days.

Great news reader425!!!

Nash, thank you!!
Peggy, the tech was very good at explaining what she was doing and explained how she was doing it so as to minimize discomfort. It was fine for me also and I appreciate that level of attention and care!

josalive I am so happy for you! I remember you initially joined our March chemo forum, and wondered where you went.
All my fingers and toes are crossed for you to remain NED forever!

hi Reader--wonderful news!! Congrats on 6 mo!! Hope your tummy feels better!
Molly, what movie did y'all end up seeing? Inside Out? Glad your time with DD and DGS was good. Also glad that you are reading up to prepare for upcoming Mx! But remember that we will always be your Lx sisters and are here for you and want to know how you're doing.
Octogirl, Reno should be beautiful this time of year--perfect for a wedding and to catch up on a big family reunion. Hope you get to spend time alone with DD and get torelax in the passenger seat .
Plumster, that's so cool that your kids are 3rd gen campers at that camp. What a wonderful connection to tie the generations, and share stories. I imagine there will be tears of joy--and relief--shed at parents weekend! Go get them and safe travels!!

Octogirl, have a fabulous time with family! Molly, yea, I'm glad you got some quality time with your heart and soul! Reader, congratulations! As always, Peggy you are the best!!!
Hugs!0 -
Reader, you obviously had the right tech doing your mammo. That's great!
Plumster, I'm impressed too with your kids being 3rd generation at that camp. The closest our family came to that was DH and one DS both went to Philmont Scout Camp in New Mexico. My scout camp was sold off. And thank you for the lovely words. I do appreciate them and I'm very glad that I can help all the wonderful ladies here, paying it forward. After I found this site (before my surgery) I inhaled 100 pages of info on lx and then a huge number of pages on rads. Had to read all the Arimidex pages, too. Made me very well informed and prepared for each step of my journey, armed with tips that the medical staff don't always remember to share.
HUGS!!

We saw Minions. I already took him to see Inside Out which of course made me weep. You all have become my BC family so don't worry I will check in with you. I see Ringelle and I are both on the August surgery thread.

I'm glad you'll keep us up to date on what's going on with you, Molly! Good luck. HUGS!! And MORE HUGS!!!!

I've noticed reaching out and using my mouse with my right hand has caused a lot of pain at the end of the work day. I am going to try using the mouse with my left hand tomorrow. The seatbelt is irritating too, I have a 30 mile drive each way. I've been holding the strap in my left hand keeping it away from my breast. I can't wait for my seroma to go away!
0 -
Meezer, is that mouse pain new or have you had it off and on throughout your computer-work career? You might consider using a wrist pad (annoying as they are). Have you seen an LE PT? It might help you. A 30 mile commute is awfully long when that poor girl is hurting and being rubbed.
HUGS!!!

meezers, I was wondering exactly the same thing: I can type on the laptop when it is on my lap lying on the couch, but at work it really has gotten to me the last few days, and I did wonder if it was the mouse. I don't have a seroma but it just plain hurts and by the end of the day my breast feels swollen.
I've been having serious flashbacks to my breast feeding days: when my breast would hurt and feel all hard and swollen if I went to work and didn't nurse or express for a few hours....I keep looking down expecting to see leakage. So weird. But of course with breastfeeding the solution was pleasant (nurse the baby). Sigh.
So, another sort of tough day at work. Hubby did email me in the afternoon to say he was afraid I'd overdo it and he would cook dinner (bless him). Funny thing is, I felt tired and sore, but when I left work I got my hair cut. I thought it would add to my tiredness but sitting in the salon chair was restorative and I went home feeling better. That's when I really started to wonder if something about the position of my office chair and the mouse was making things worse....
Tonight I am (slowly, with hubby's help) doing laundry, and packing and getting ready for my trip to Reno. We are taking off tomorrow afternoon. So excited to see my kids and grandkids!!! Thanks all for all the good wishes!
HUGS to all of you!

Octo, it's very possible that you are holding your hand/wrist differently due to the tenderness of your breast. After all, it isn't real happy yet so of course you baby and protect it. It should go away as you heal. Just watch how you sit and hold your hand/wrist and arm - maybe that will give you a clue. Or put your keyboard on your lap at work (and put your feet up?).
Have fun this weekend!!
HUGS!!!

Josalive and tresjolie hope you are both feeling better today. Please rest and take care of yourselves!

Good suggestion Peggy. Actually, when I am back at work I think I will try bringing the laptop and working from it some of the time with my feet up on another chair or even my office table. On top of everything else work got me a new computer while I was out during surgery recovery. The new computer is most welcome (and I knew it was coming), but your post made me realize that not only might I be using the mouse differently, it is a new mouse and I am not used to its slightly different design! Thanks for thinking of that (and for everything)!
But today I have a meeting for a team project I am on first thing, then outta here to head to Reno and a few days off :-) Can't wait for mini vacation and to kiss the grand babies! :-)
Hope all have a good weekend. I'd say I will miss my bco sisters while I am gone except that I know myself and I will probably log in at least once or twice while i am gone. HUGS!
