Octogirl so sorry my sadness was catching Bawling. My hair problem is I've only thinned and am balding only in the front.,I always get, " you don't look like you're in chemo". Then I run my fingers through my hair and shake what comes out on my fingers in front of their face. Rude but effective. Sigh...and super huge hugs...

thanks so much to all of you for your words of comfort and support!!! (which I read while enjoying a glass of rose :-)). I am going to talk to MO about anti-anxiety meds next week, and ask for more info on the alcohol... and thanks for the folic acid recommendation Peggy. that was very helpful.

I don't know if I will rock chemo, but you all will make it much easier to bear. Thanks so much again!

Of course, if the Giants could just beat those pesky Pirates, which seems increasingly unlikely, I might be in a better mood tonight....Baseball has been my favorite and most consistent distraction (with my guys in a pennant race) but umm, not this week... a girl definitely needs a glass of wine to deal with them tonight. Especially since hubby is showing his Pennsylvania roots tonight. Sigh.

    Xoxox and HUGS To ALL!

Octogirl, when you do your chemo treatments, do what my DIL did during her colon cancer chemo. Every treatment she told that stuff to KILL CANCER. And she kept that in mind all throughout. I've never known anyone more positive about chemo in my life. And it did kill her cancer!

I don't know about your Giants but my Tigers are terrible. How we can still be within striking distance of making the playoffs is way beyond me. I do understand about your mixed marriage - that's hard.

    HUGS!!

    Welcome BT828!!!

Octogirl....get the Xanax.  It was a life saver for me.  I'd I'd never taken anything before BC and Xanax really helped me get thru the rough days.  (((Hugs)))

Hi just popping to say hi. I spent my Saturday cleaning like crazy and we had friends over that night. It was nice to have fun! My DS is very sick and I hate the idea of being in the hospital and away from him. I wish I had planned to take tomorrow off. Anyway, umx with TE on Tuesday afternoon. I am trying not to let it all get to me. Welcome to those who joined. I will try to catch up tomorrow.

Octogirl I'm so sorry you've been feeling so down. ((hugs)) Is it possible for you to explain to the person who hurt your feelings that they did and why? I'm so sorry they did that. I find it surprising that people still don't get that you don't joke about cancer. I know you really don't feel like it, but can you go for walks, even short ones? It's a good, natural way to lift your spirits.

I didn't scroll back far enough to remind myself who said "call and bug them for your MRI results" but I did. And it worked. Thank you.

I talked to the manager of radiology this morning. She said she'd get the doc who looked at my MRI to call me. The doctor did just a bit ago. The reason for the Ultrasound follow up to the MRI is she saw one enlarged lymph node. Probably a reaction to the biopsy. But they want to look at it again next week.

Other good news is that it isn't a given I'll have rads on both sides. Now that I've done more reading and know enough to actually have questions, I asked what the benign thing in my right breast is classified as. It isn't considered DCIS, at least not yet. It is a benign lesion with atypia. So the excise biopsy on that will determine how it gets classified and treated.

Except for the person who told me I'd have to wait until my surgeon got back on 8/31 for those MRI results, everyone has been SO helpful at the breast center. And the doctor welcomed the feedback that I got not helpful information when I had to go beyond the people one would usually talk to due to vacations.

Feels really weird. . . had my post op with BS today and have basically closed that chapter. I'll be checking in with him every 6 months (unless I have any further issues from this surgery). After feeling so great for the first week after sx, I tanked on Sunday (emotions and pain) and have felt pretty crappy ever since. Thankfully there's no concern for infection. I do have seromas on both sides (fun fun) and he wrapped me in ace bandages - sweet relief!!!! That has helped so much already. I'm not being recommended for radiation but I have been recommended to follow up with an MO on tamoxifen. BS said he was intrigued by the tumor board's discussion about that since their recommendation was different from what they've told him over the past 5 years. I'm glad I had my gifts for him and the nurse today. Wow - after bi-weekly trips for the past 4 months, that's basically done! MO appt is Thursday. Monday I'll be meeting with the PS to see where we go from here now that I don't need radiation! I just need to feel better so I can get back to losing some weight!

Ringelle, nice to be done with your surgeon for awhile? Glad he was able to make you comfortable. What did the tumor board tell your BS that was different? Do you need Herceptin as well as Tamoxifen? Of course, Thursday you'll know more. Tipple a glass or two tonight and sleep good!

    Dear everyone,

Thank you so much for your love and support!

Surgery went very well today according to my surgeon's conversation with my mom. I'm in no pain, a tiny bit groggy still from the anesthesia and updated my profile pic to my post-op pic with my beautiful post-op "bra" that I'm to wear for several days. I've never worn fancy or sexy bras, corsets and such but I must say, I love the look and feel to this!

You were all with me in spirit! I'm so grateful this Lumpectomy Lounge is here!

After surgery while at the hospital, I put on (and am still wearing) my Survivor breast cancer ball cap. I ordered it online and have had it for several weeks but dare not wore it lest I jinx my recovery.

Today I get to wear it -- today I am a breast cancer survivor!!

Will update my history once I get that info from my surgeon at our post-op appointment next week.

You all were with me in spirit -- thank you for your love, example, courage and inspiration!!

    Hugs,

    Evie

RadGirl, so glad everything went well! Nice that your "bra" works well. Definitely you are a survivor!! Be sure to take it easy. Ice that poor girl and underarm. Take pain meds when needed - don't wait until you are miserable! Nice to have it over, isn't it?

    HUGS!!!!

So glad today was a success radgirl.

So speaking of bras, I have many sports bras, most of which unhook in the back because I got sick of having to be a contortionist to get them off. But you all are saying front close for after the one we're sent home with comes off. I usually shop at Athleta (they have none) or Title Nine (they have two for B cup, but the one I'd more likely choose for style has a review that says the zipper broke on the wearer during a half marathon!)

Victorias Secret has nice ones but then realized they have an underwire. I assume that's a no go?

So where do I shop online? (I almost never got to brick and mortar stores.)
