Sloan, for one thing they want to communicate directly with you rather than through match.com (which insures your privacy). Here's the latest one:
Hello Sweetie, I really admire you and the way your profile was expressed and the motive behind it. Honestly it sound that you are fully matured and know what life needs..I have been very busy at work lately and am suspending my account for now because of the present nature of my job, do u really need all this explanation? Lol.. I'll leave you with my private email address so you can email me and thereafter i will get back to you with more about me.
I reported him. Or when they profess undying love without meeting me. Or the one that reminded me of the Nigerian scammers of a few years ago, when a woman who "knows" the guy sends some sob story about how my love will restore him to psychological equilibrium and he lives on the East Coast (not within 50 miles of me!).
I'm careful. And the two men I've met in person have been on the up and up. And it is nice to get out.
Can't wait to see you!
HUGS!

Molly, Thanks! I thought it would be after the followup, just anxious to get startedl
Peggy, it sounds Great that you've found someone for companionship, my DH has been gone for 16 years now and I still miss him.. I've met a couple of people, but just want friendship now, it'd be nice to have someone to go out for coffee or walk..

Summer, Hi and welcome, but sorry you have to join us here. My incision on the breast was nothing. It was my SN incision that surprised me. The breast incision was right above the nipple, dead center, but was very thin and not bad at all. Now, 3 moths later, it is just a faint line. Also, re picture, if you mean your profile picture, under settings where you list information, there is a place called AVATAR. You can add any picture of yourself, or something else and it will be associated with your screen name.
Well, had a yuck day yesterday. Finally reacted very strongly with intestinal issues to chemo and kept passing out yesterday, so paramedics were called and I made a 6 hour trip to ER. 6 pokes for blood, chest x-ray, etc.several bags of fluids and antibiotics, I was able to come back home last night! Horrible experience, but I guess not an uncommon one. Really puts things in perspective though when you're surrounded by homeless, sick, crazy people in an ER! Kept a mask on the whole freakin' time!
Hope all have a good Sunday and can enjoy the holiday weekend. Needless to say, I"m staying put and vegging out!

IHGJann, I started my stretches immediately that bs gave me to do. I went back to Zumba class about 1-1/2 weeks after surgery. Bought front close high impact sports bras and eased back in doing low impact & no jumping at first or weights. (I also wore a cotton cami under sports bra during rads to minimize rubbing on tender skin when exercising) At my post op with bs 1week after surgery, she told me I had no restrictions, just ease back in. She told me some women use 2 sports bras for additional support. I'm small so one high impact was good enough. It helped me feel "normal" & the positive energy I got from the others in my class helped me keep my attitude positive as I continued with treatments.

IHGJAnn49, right now I don't really want to share all that much of my life; definitely not a committed relationship. I'm very happy right now. I like living alone, answering to no one, decorating my house to suit me and utilizing every square inch of space for my "stuff." Like you, I just want someone to do things with. I need to make that clear to the gentleman I am seeing right now - he definitely wants more. I have a high school classmate who is in a definite relationship (has been for years) and they live separately. I could probably do that.
As for scammers, I haven't responded to any of their emails so can't say for sure what they wanted. But if the email from match.com makes me uncomfortable then it isn't for me.
HUGS!

Did anyone have pain in their shoulder blade on the same side as their surgery? I think my arm was somehow pushed back during surgery and now I have a muscle strain in the muscles under the blade. Just twinges in the surgery area, a little pain in the sentinel node area. I have been putting biofreeze on it and my husband massages it for me. I swear, I never get a massage and always have to give them. This time, it's all about me.

Dara, so sorry you had to go to ER!! Take it easy and hope you feel better with the rest of your chemo!!
IHG, we have the same saying on our info!!! I had sore throat after surgery, thank goodness didn't get sick!
Michelle, hopefully the pain was just from positioning from the surgery, or from protecting the area all the time after surgery, it probably strains muscles we don't realize.
Hugs to all! It's so great to be sleeping again and feeling like a human being again lol!!!!

Dara, so glad you got out of the ER! Very scary.

Had a very sore throat after surgery, from being incubated. My voice took a eeek to get back to normal strength. Didn't have shoulder issues, but my whole upper body was stiff and sore for three days from the muscle relaxant they administer once you're "under," because before your muscles relax they contract violently for an instant. The drug is succinylcholine and the phenomenon is called "scoline syndrome." I did get a bit of soreness in both shoulders after the first couple of radiation treatments because I had to stretch my arms all the way up and hold on to a pair of handles to put me in the right position. But it went away after the first weekend

Dara, very scary. Glad you are now back home & resting. Hugs!

Dara - Wow, that's frightening. I'm glad you're okay! I didn't have any problems on chemo except for tiredness (and regretting not getting a port). When I read about others having allergic reactions or crashing, I want to try to give the new people some balance and to expect nothing, but be prepared!
Peggy - I think you're being smart by going through the server and trusting your gut with these guys!

Thanks all. I totally agree about not getting freaked out as so many side-effects may ever even materialize! I thought of not even mentioning anything, but I also know though that I was prepared after hearing of a couple of experiences so could get on top of things right away. For the oat part, even chemo isn't all that bad, we all just take one step at a time. Most people I know have a pretty easy time, and if not, it's all just temporary. Today is great.

I am from downstate Illinois. I wonder how many Illinois gals are on here? Used to live in Chicago, had a high profile career in marketing and due diligence, continued career downstate after I met my husband. Children came along and I could not do both well, so I chose to keep the kids and go run my own business with my husband. Otherwise, ChiSandy, I would be living in Lincoln Park and enjoying Lake Michigan.

Peggy - I think its wonderful how you have made the most of life... dating - that is awesome... I do think if you just express that you are looking more for companionship rather than a deep relationship, you will attract that type of man... I have a friend and she met her "boyfriend" online almost 2 yrs ago.. they still live separate lives - but date every weekend, seldom seeing each other on weekdays (they both work) She loves the way the relationship is and really doesn't want to have it deepen into anything else. They did take their vacation time together but otherwise they do not live together.

DaraB, I am sure you have been asked, but why are you doing chemo? Is the protocol for Stage two, small mass, a lumpectomy, radiation and for ER+/Pr+ tamaxofin, etc?

Michelle, I'm from downstate Illinois too, right on I-70 at Illinois/Indiana state line.

Hi Michelle, I know it sure sounds like I shouldn't be doing chemo doesn't it? My BS said I am Stage 1A, no lymph node involvement, clear margins, and planned most likely to go straight to rads. No genetic mutations, but a couple of screwy numbers with my ER+, PR+, and Her2-. I had the oncotype test and scored 20, intermediate, but low intermediate. Still figured no chemo, but my MO requested the Prosigna test for those specifically in the intermediate range and that test came back definitively high risk for recurrence. I have had a lot of bc in my family, lost my sister to stage 4 metastatic in October and have numerous other cancers in my family history. My MO said that they are finding it's not even as much about the stage as it is the grade or aggressiveness of the cancer. My BS found DCIS grade 3 along with my IDC grade 2 so I figured it's worth throwing everything at it not to have a recurrence. It's all about making the best educated guess and then sticking with it. I plan to be around way longer than 15 years, so the benefits outweighed the risks. I made the decision, and now just move forward. It's doable!
Anyone know why we can't change our profile history on our settings page? I did try to add in about the additional tests, but they wouldn't save. I've heard they changed a couple of things. hmmmm

Dara... So glad you're feeling better today. 😀

Dara, so glad you are OK! Michelle, you can ask your surgeon for a referral to PT. It really helped me after my mastectomy.
0 -
Michelle, you might want to update your profile to include your location and the treatments you've had so (even ones that are planned). Be sure to make them public. Then others living around you will respond!
IamNancy, thanks for letting me know that others have managed a good relationship while living apart. I'll never say never but I'm not looking for anything more than companionship.
HUGS!

Dara- so sorry about the scary SEs, but glad to hear you are recovering. Sounds like no picnic. Hugs!

Dara - glad you are ok! ER is a CRAZY place! Took my mom to one in July for what ended up being UTI and couldn't believe how badl things were there,
Well I spoke too soon a few days ago about how not so bad rads are at 1/2 way point. My whole breast is now covered in what looks like a bright red diaper rash with intermingled blisters. Ouch! Bought an Aloe Vera plant today. Used its gel and it gave me some relief from itchy stingy pain. See doc Tues. Hopefully he can prescribe something. Feel quilty complaining with everything you chemo girls are going thru!
Took our youngest son out for 17th bday din tonight. Had nice time but I could barely wait to get home to rip my shirt off to relieve some of the irritation. This too shall pass!
Hugs to all. And Peggy hope you find a kind and fun companion to hang with soon!

Beebazboob, yuck. Good that the aloe helped. Some gals have found that wearing a t-shirt under their bra helps. I just used Aquaphor but I never had anything like you do. Keep slathering on everything!
HUGS!
