Poodle, that's great news! And I'm glad you get a chance to be properly recovered from the hysterectomy first. Doing the happy dance for you!

Oh, yes. I am so glad to get this ball rolling. I certainly plan to partake of Creole and Cajun cuisine. I have to go down there Jan 29 for my appts on Jan 30 & 31, so we'll have at least 1 day to play around and 2 days to eat our fill.

Hope the chemo goes well Elizabeth. The end is in sight! I hope the timing means you get some time off over Christmas before the rads start?
I know Thanksgiving is a big celebration coming up for most folks on here, when is it?

Congrats on the scheduled surgery Poodles. I'm envious thinking of the yummy cuisine!
Lorri, have fun at the wedding.
Anyone who takes Arimidex, did you experience nausea when you first started it? My RO told me it's from the AI rather than rads and should ease in about 3 months. Just wondered...

Elizabeth, hang in there!
Lorri - Glad you are going to the wedding.
Dara, I never had any nausea (or anything else) when I started generic (Teva) Arimidex. I always take it in the morning just before breakfast. Some people said that it interfered with sleep. However, I haven't noticed it interfering at all - I can still nod off whenever
HUGS!

Dara, I have to LOL at your RO. In my rads group we had a saying ..."it's not rads" (to quote what seems like every RO ever). My RO told me the nausea was likely the radiation. It is not uncommon early on and did pass for me fairly quickly.

Molly, I did also laugh. I've heard before that ROs don't admit to anything being attributed to rads. It's hard since I started both on the same day. I just didn't want to wait to start suppressing the estrogen. No other SEs like joint pain etc. which is great.

Poodles ... Congrats on the good news. You needed it. Enjoy the Big Easy...my DH is a Louisianan!
Elizabeth ...thinking of you and saying a prayer for your treatment today & SE.
Lorri ....yay you go have some fun..we all deserve a break from this battle.
I need to figure out all the radiation lingo...will look up Arimdex and hope nausea isn't to bad because I will be returning to work during mine.

Dara, one reason that most women don't start an AI before or during rads is so they know what is causing any SEs.
CaliGirl, You will be able to work. Don't think you were planning on being idle for five years taking Arimidex, were you?
HUGS!

Went and got the lump checked today while I was at the hospital for bloodwork. It's not as red and hot today and doesn't hurt today like it did yesterday, but Dr. is ordering an ultrasound for me to have it checked out. She is putting for them to have it done and results in before I meet with MO next Tuesday. Gah. Couldn't ya just say oh it's nothing for once? Just once? Oh well. Ultrasounds aren't invasive.

Congrats Elizabeth!

Peggy, I was given a choice, but my MO said they usually recommend starting the AI during rads as there's no medical reason to wait. I figured it would be better to start suppressing that estrogen asap. Plus as a neighbor told my husband, since CA just legalized marijuana, there are options for SEs! LOL, no thanks!

Sorry I haven't been able to keep up much with all the conversations since this is my busy time at work. Just saw the MO today, and I now have my chemo scheduled. My first treatment is December 15. So, the good news is I'll get to enjoy Thanksgiving! I decided to go ahead and head back to Oklahoma to visit my mom and brothers' family for Thanksgiving. I figured, I probably shouldn't make any travel plans once I start chemo. Not sure how many SE's I'll have but am hoping I won't feel too terrible for Christmas.
Dizzybee - Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 24.
Lorri70 - weddings are always fun. Glad you get to go enjoy yourself!
ElizabethAM - glad you're getting close to finishing chemo. No doubt you're ready to have that behind you.
Poodles - I love NOLA! I haven't been back since Hurricane Katrina though...Definitely need to get back there sometime this decade.

Dara, I started anastrozole the week before radiation. I really didn't have any SE's on the AI until about 3 months in. My RO was unusual. She always said it was the radiation!

Dara, I'm with you on the pot. It's legal here in Washington for recreational as well as medical use. Just not my thing.
ILSunrise, glad you have things moving forward. Ladies who have done chemo will be better able to tell you how you might be feeling come Christmas. If you think you might want a wig, you might start investigating now and be prepared.
HUGS!

Appointment tomorrow to get results of lumpectomy and SNB. Incisions look great, anxious to move onto the next step, whatever that may be. Wish me luck!

Hi all, since I don't post much anymore, I thought I'd pop in just to say hello and to say...
Congrats, Elizabeth, on getting through one more chemo - you're almost finished!
Dara, I also started on Arimidex a week or so before radiation and had no problems at all - I had wondered at the time about starting both at the same time, but it wasn't an issue. I was glad to start taking that little pill asap!
Poodles, I'm so glad you got some much needed good news!
Leslie (here I am!), I'm sure your team is just being cautious in doing the ultrasound, but yes, wouldn't it be nice if they would just let something slide for once!
Hello to everyone else! Quick visit today, my mother is calling through as I type, so I'm off!0 -

ILSunrise, there is a wig boutique in Chicago's Roscoe Village called Chrysalis Hair, and it is ONLY for women with cancer-treatment hair loss (whether chemo, AI or brain radiation). Chrysaliscustomhair.com. If you can make it up north here before you start chemo—or while you still have your hair—they can match your color and style if you want.

ChiSandy - Thanks for the info about Chrysalis Hair. I just checked out their website. That place looks phenomenal. I can see I need to make a trip to Chicago. I haven't been shopping for wigs yet but was hoping to start this weekend. We have a wig store in Peoria and there is one in Bloomington, which is not too far from here, but they won't be anything like Chrysalis.

Dara - I've been on Arimidex for 7 months now. No nausea

Good morning ladies, saw my oncologist yesterday, asked could I record the conversation , and he said yes! I was so excited turned the recorder on. I am going to receive chemo, radiation and hormone blockers. Ohio did not turn it on turned it off, lol.
