    Moondust,

I don't know about the trials yet, but my MO mentioned there might be one or two that would be good for me. One might have something to do with exercise. I'll see him again next week to get more information

JHDIII..... I haven't had chills though just still tender

Moondust ...sounds fun ...where are you in central ca...I am in Clovis.

Dara...great pictures. Went to our electric light parade last night with friends and family. Cold but fun to be out enjoying life again. Hey I finally went out in public in my wig Friday ...couldn't wait to get home & pull off

Tomorrow morning is my RO appointment but apparently I won't be seeing the doctor just getting CT done & some other stuff I didn't know what they were talking about. I guess I'll know more tomorrow .. I hope.

    Nighty night 😘

IHGJAnn49 - Congratulations on finishing rads a major milestone in this journey! I hope your healing goes quickly. I look forward to the day when I might hear the bells or get the hug after treatments are complete!

DaraB - Your pictures from the Festival of Lights are gorgeous. My niece got married at the Mission Inn this past summer. It was such a beautiful place for a wedding and we truly enjoyed spending time in the area.

Sunrise, my daughter was married in the big chapel as well and then had her reception in the music room. So very beautiful!

Cali, hope the CT went smoothly.

#19 rads today. Skin is holding up fair. Still have the rah, itch, and slight blistering, but definitely doable. I'll have 9 more regular tx and then 8 boosts. Getting there!

hey everyone, as usual it's too busy here for me to catch up, but I hope everybody is doing well.

We had our trip to Cuba a couple weeks ago, it was amazing. For any of the other ladies here that are moms with young kids, if you haven't gone away without your kids and get the opportunity, I highly recommend it! I missed them but it was so nice to get away from the stresses of parenting in addition to getting away from the stresses of everyday life at home

Ihad an oncologist follow up last week, I've been referred to a gynaecologist because I'm looking at getting my ovaries out. I'm quite nervous about it but I've been on over a suppression shots for a couple months and I'm doing OK, so I figure I might as well.

I also changed to Aromasin about a week ago, so far I haven't really noticed much difference from the tamoxifen. I think I'm having a bit harder time sleeping, but it's manageable

My first mammogram is next week! I'm so nervous, not only that they might find something but that it might hurt. I've never found them painful before but my bad boob always feels a bit achy and bruised!

Well, this is my first post. I had my lumpectomy and 24 lymph nodes removed on the 12thof November. I had my drain removed two weeks after, so almost 10 days ago. Fluid has built up in my breast, as the doctor indicated it would, but it seems like it will never stop. My left breast is HUGE! Today it is reddish around the nipple, but is not hot to the touch compared to the right side. He said the fluid is normal, and would go away, but it seems to be increasing. Kindof feels like mastitis. I am not sure if I should notify the doctor since I saw him Saturday and he said the accumulation is fluid and is normal...it just seems to keep swelling. Doesn't hurt any worse than it did before, just tight and swollen. Any ideas?

Glogan, welcome! That's a lot of nodes removed. I think you should call your doctor. You're concerned and that's all that matters. Your breast shouldn't be huge IMHO. But I am not doctor or nurse. It's possible they need to drain a lot of that fluid. Others will chime in with their experiences. Please fill out your profile and make it public via SETTINGS and let us know where you are. We do find regional and national differences in BC care - not bad, just different. And besides, there might be a BCO sister nearby. We cannot remember everyone's specifics and your public profile is a huge help.

    HUGS!

Hi Glogan, you should see a Dr. might be infection. I had some swelling and pain behind my nipple and a red streak from my nipple to the chest. Dr. thought it was an infection and gave me antibiotics just in case. Hope you feel better soon

LTF, my first post-surgery/rads mammo was probably the best one ever for comfort. My 2nd, which was a 3D one, was the worse one ever - I was sore/tender for several days afterward. Never had that before.

Dara, glad you managing your rads! Hopefully you'll finish up just a bit red! Keep slathering the goop on that breast!

    HUGS!

Caligirl, I am in Tulare County, in the tiny town of Alpaugh. It's about halfway between Visalia and Bakersfield. One of these days we'll have a central/southern California get-together! Good luck with your scan.

Jill, great to hear from you. Good luck with the mammo. My first one was mildly unpleasant on my surgery side but nothing very bad.

Jill....can't imagine that first mammogram when i have to have one since I'm still tender.

Glogan...yes you must call ...only you know what's not feeling right with your body.

Alice...yes we will have to get a California group together.

megan1234... Sorry with being on medical leave unpaid right now and lots of medical bills above & beyond my insurance allowance I am not able to help you get to Australia. Wish I had extra funds ...good luck

My CT scan went, when the tech was explaining the tattoo markers then she was getting me ready for the CT I asked if I had to have a marker on my incisions? She said yes on the lumpectomy one. I thought that will hurt putting a needle into my incision. I was waiting for the pain then she said done...well she meant a sticker marker...hehe I was releaved no needle in my tender incision.

Hi Caligirl: my radiologist explained to me today that i would get marker points on my sim then permanent tats on my first visit. Omg more pokes, but he promised me they would be small freckle size and bearable. HUM

Miko & Caligirl, my tattoos are like very small freckles & didn't hurt when I got them. Don't even notice them now. They used tape markers at first but I had skin reactions to the tape, so I got tats & they used a paint pen for other markings & reapplied as it wore off.

Morning all. Miko and Cali, my tattoos are so small, frequently I can't find them, and even the tech sometimes puts a little extra marker on top of the tat. I saw both my RO and MO yesterday. They both pointed fingers at the other tx for causing my nausea. Funny. I also had had a woman recommend Cannibis Cream for joint ache on the Arimidex. She had a prescription, but it is now legal in California. I still asked the MO about it though and laughed and said he would not endorse it, prescribe it, nor say it would make any difference. I've also researched and read that it is really helpful for psoriasis as well (Miko). It has the ingredients taken out that make you high; anyone ever use cannibis for their bc SEs?

Yesterday all my bloodworm showed that all has recovered from chemo. He'll now check me again in 2 mos. and then we can go to 3+ months.

Calie, glad you actually wore the wig out. I'm going to try again soon. Do you wear a cap under it? I have a cotton cap that is far less itchy than the nylon ones. How's the hair coming in? I can't believe how sad mine looks. Al of my lashes left yesterday. Bummed! The hair is super thin and sparse, different lengths (longest is about 1/2 inch) and it's shortest in the front right above the forehead. I'm 7 weeks PFC and I know I"m just being impatient.

Welcome Glogan. I agree that you should call your doctor. Do you even have a 24 hr call in line with questions? They stressed to me not to hesitate to call or think I was being a baby or a nuisance.

Well, 6:45 AM and I need to get out for rads. Hope all have a good day.

Cali and Miko, those tattoos don't hurt! Mine were around my chest nothing near my incisions. I had one on both sides and one in the middle of my chest - all about at the lower bra line.

    HUGS!

Dara, hang in there with the hair. It will come back, s-l-o-w-l-y, but it will come back. Mine was a fuzzy hot mess for the first 3 months PFC, growing back in at different rates and very curly. I finally took the wig off when I went out of town on a business trip. I figured nobody at the conference would know me anyway and I just was tired of dealing with the wig all the time. NOBODY NOTICED! Well, if they did notice they were polite enough to not say anything about my fuzzy-baby-duck head.

The one awkwardly-funny thing that happened on that trip was when I was passing through TSA in San Diego, on my way home to Atlanta. When I stepped through the big x-ray machine, it apparently saw something suspicious so they pulled me out of line for a pat-down. The young lady who had the job was professional, but when she pulled the backs of her hands over my chest and felt thick bandages, she just froze. I leaned forward and told her that I had breast cancer and had just recently had a double mastectomy. She pulled her hands back like they were on FIRE! Huh! I bet she'll think twice before she pats down a flat-chested, mostly bald 60yo woman in the future.

Hi Dara: no, haven't heard about cannibus cream. Sounds interesting. Good luck with rads you've been through alot tyty so much for sharing.

Hi Peg: tyty so much for the heads up on tats. I actually perfer them so I don't have to worry about washing them off 😆

I was so dreading the continued waiting game, but now i am ok with it. Since I have to wait till 12/16 to find out if i need chemo or not, my radiologist said to wait till January to actually start rads if chemo is not indicated.

To all my friends on this board Christmas and New Year is right around the corner - here's wishing you all happy holidays and thank you for sharing your kind thoughts and invaluable wisdom during this challenge ofours. 🎄🎁😇👍

Dara, I used mostly the aloe after the treatments.. I tried the aquaphor, but didn't like the greasy kid stuff, i have a little peeling now, but not bad and they gave me some more aloe and skin care cream to use.. My tatoos were on both sides and in the center like Peggys, but I put off my treatments for a week and I shrunk... they had to use the markers after that but they worked out ok.. I am really glad to be done..

I have been experiencing rather extreme sensitivity under my arm where my lymph node surgery was. I have been using Ebanel numb 520 with 5% lidocaine. It really helps me at night and I put more on in the morning before work.

Dara...l have that same fuzz hair do...but more and more each week. Strange that our hair comes in and lashes & eyebrows go out. Sometimes my eyelids have itched so much at the lash line.

    Poodle....love the TSA story.

Molly...thanks for sharing the picture...hope it was a nice day at Disneyland.

Peggy....Thank you ...why do they place the 3 dots there?I got mine yesterday & wonered why the put one by my right breast too? I got confused with the marker talk from the tech.

    Miko...thanks

CaliGirl, they put 3 tattoos on me so they can align the machine. None were on my breast. They were more on my rib cage. And you can't see them.

Molly, what a wonderful time you had at Disneyland. Love that photo of DS. I understand how exhausting it had to have been. Rest up!

Hi. I'm new here. I just turned 50, I have a family history of BC in 1 grandmother only, I started menarche at age 11 and haven't gone started menopause yet. 2 months ago my nipple suddenly started retracting with arm movements or with flexing my pectoral muscles. No nipple discharge. Stable microcalcifications on diagnostic mammo (very dense breasts) but multiple suspicious intraductal masses were seen on US (BIRADS 4).

I am being scheduled for a surgical excisional biopsy for the masses directly beneath my nipple (the largest is about 1 cm x 0.6 cm). I know the odds are strong it will be benign papillomas, though DCIS of course is also possible. Standard of care is a full lumpectomy for papillomas anyway. I can't find any articles regarding incidence of multiple papillomas so close to the nipple (usually its a solitary papilloma in that region reported). I'm not sure I feel as confident about it most likely being benign papillomas due to that but guess I will find out soon enough).

Has anyone had a lumpectomy directly beneath the nipple? (I know they will cut around the areola and cut and lift half of the areola and the nipple off to get to the ducts). What are the odds I will lose all the sensation in my areola/nipple? Will it still have the ability to become erect with stimulation? It feels like a lot to risk losing for what's most likely a benign pathology. :(

Ohsix23, Welcome! We're sorry you had to find us but glad you did. You do have a lot of information, which is good. I can't answer any of your questions :( But I know that some of the gals will be able to help. While waiting for them, would you please fill out your profile and make it public by clicking on Settings. Let us know where you live - often we have BCO sisters nearby. You might want to pick up Dr Susan Love's Breast Book. It could be helpful. It's loaded with information.

Hi ohsix23: I don't know if i can be of any help to you. However i just a lumpectomy on 11/17 and i have idc. My cancer was 1.3 cm and mainly micro calicifications. It was located right behind my nipple. My breast surgeon made an incision right on the edge of my areola and took out the cancer that way. Right now I am experiencing extreme sensitivity under my arm where she took out my node. However I haven't had problems with my nipple except sensitivity. I have been using lidocaine cream which seems to help

Welcome ohsix23 , my cancer was at 12:00 close to the nipple . I still had sensation after my lumpectomy . Later I had a mastectomy with the nipple removed . Good luck and we will be in your pocket for your lumpectomy .
