PTS, would love to drop by!! I just hit mile 105 !! Still a long way to go but I like to picture it in my mind. I'm in Key Largo now! Woot!0 -
wow, Key Largo sounds good to me! fun to vary the place you work out or the things we do! Jersey Shore will be a great place to walk or bike!

I all stumbled on this thread and really needed the information. I do have lymphedema (just confirmed) and pick up my sleeve next week. I am new to this thread and lymphedema. The info was great and thanks so much.

Lady - so glad you found us! Sorry you have to join the "Swell Sisters" club, but there's a lot of support to be had in the Lymphedema section here on BCO, and there's good info on the Step Up Speak Out website. The ladies who post on the Lymphedema section are really knowledgeable, and over the years they've picked up a lot of great info that you can use to learn to manage your LE, so check in there often. Exercise is important - just take any upper body work slowly and easily, and work up gradually.

Is running okay? What about spin class? I run 3 miles 4 times a week and I take spin twice a week . I have noticed a diff in how I feel which is good. Should I wear the sleeve?

Thanks for the welcome and good info Natsfan! I will check out the lymphedema section. Look forward to getting more information and getting to know those on the thread.

Vb - I'm a runner too. When I was first dx with LE, I wore my sleeve and gauntlet when running as I noticed fluid building up especially in my hands and fingers, particularly after longer runs or in warmer weather. As I learned to manage my LE, I learned when I needed to wear them and when I didn't. As for spin, since you're up on your arms and hands when standing on the pedals, I'd definitely wear the sleeve and gauntlet when spinning.
Actually, I'd wear them for any exercise to begin with, and monitor yourself closely. Everyone is different in what triggers swelling, so as you learn to manage LE you can gradually start experimenting with leaving them off now and then to see how you do. But if you're new to LE, I'd err on the side of wearing your sleeve and gauntlet for just about everything until you learn your individual triggers.
