My husband is from Washington State. He's not too fond of California. I'd love to move to the frozen North, but our kids are here in CA.

Ruthbru, just curious....what makes the water pink there?
0 -
Lake Retba is naturally pink. Due to its high salt content, the water has the perfect living conditions for a certain kind of micro-algae called dunaliella salina. The presence of these organisms is what gives the lake its pink hue.

Show off! Ha, ha! Well, so I saw Racoon's in our ditch last Spring! It was at night, and I looked out the door, and saw these 2 little eyes and 2 paws on top of our fence! Then I heard them "chatter!" And once I watched this big OWL in the top of our tree.... So fascinating! Like he was watching over the world! Then a bunch of Crows, came and chased him off! They are bullies....
I love this picture!

Thanks for the Laugh Chevy - I was going to post one without the wording that was in my "group hug image" - google search. Ok now back to the AHHHH pictures. Not sure if I posted this but too lazy to look - A Tiller, OR campsite during an Arch. dig.

Deer are a natural part of the landscape here. We had one buck that hung out by our front walkway last summer. Deer would regularly sleep in our shady planters in the hot, summer afternoons. They were real curious, often looking into our windows to see what we were up to.

Our town has a lot of vacant lots and a LOT of deer. They are so used to city life that most of them stop and look both ways before crossing the street!

This was taken at my daughter's wedding in Charleston, SC, last September 1. The bridal party was on the docks for pics and the sun was going down. An uninvited guest came by!
