I go for scans the 29th and pray there is no progression, as I have only minimal side effects from the shots last scan, my markers were down a bit, and the mass on my uterus had shrunk a bit . Already beginning to get anxious, guess I always will . Wilsie

Brenda, they have shown no metabolic activity on successive PET-CT scans. And yes, you can interpret that as stable or better in that the lung mets appear dead, not growing or glowing in the images.

I have just had my first scan since starting Faslodex, so tomorrow is the day I find out if this is helping me or not. I am trying not to think too much about it right now.. but it really helps knowing there are some of you out there who have had successful results for years!

Agree with tina! No matter how cool, calm, and collected we are most of the time, upcoming scans seem to make all of us nervous.
Tomorrow is month 57 for me. Will start to hydrate after I get home from my client's office this afternoon. Actually, free seltzer water at this office, so I might start a bit earlier. Just can't spend all their billable hours running to the rest room which is strangely inconvenient from my desk.
This is the time of the month that I have to focus on my health, and I don't really like it one bit. Four night's at my mother's house has triggered "faslodex back." Man do her beds SUCK! :-)

thank you my lovely co-travellers on this path of ours for your wishes. My scans came back and the results are not so good. The tumour in my liver has not only grown but also spread a bit. After only four treatments it is end of the road for Faslodex for me. My oncologist is putting me on Xeloda from next week. . I will come and check on you all, but for now thanks for the journey so far. Lots of wishes to all of you.

Oh, Rina, I am sorry to learn this and that you are leaving the Fanny Pack. Faslodex does take a bit of time to work, so if things are going in the wrong direction, it's probably best to change course. May Xeloda be your solution!

I am so sorry that Faslodex was not your perfect drug. Xeloda does wonderful things for many forum members.... let's hope it is the same for you.

Rina, I'm so sorry Faslodex didn't work for you, but fortunately you have another option. I hope Xeloda is the one that works perfectly for you. We all worry when scan time comes around, but when they help us decide to make a change we appreciate having them.

Would it be ok to go 5 weeks between Faslodex treatments instead of 4? My doctor has always been very careful to make mine every 4 weeks, but I really need to push it back a week next month if possible. Will it hurt me?Thanks....Birdlady

I had to delay one week in March [about 3.5 years into this sage] and my oncologist had no problem with the delay. She indicated that she would prefer not to make it a habit, but once was fine and would make no difference..

Susan and Tina, please keep posting and reminding us of your success with Faslodex. I feel better and more hopeful every time I read them.

Well, today at 12:30pm I will receive my 57th month of Faslodex. Someday I should calculate how many shots that has meant. Just can't remember how many months were single before moving to the double dose. I received a call from Nurse Judy yesterday. Her message was so apologetic and sad as she told me that she has just had to realize that her hands and back can no longer do this difficult injection. So, as of today, I have a new chemo nurse, Nurse Sharon. Nurse Sharon was my substitute nurse two months ago, and did a really good job. Just a bit wistful. Judy and I have been working together for nine years.... and I had come to both trust and like her tremendously.

Susan, wow. That's a fundamental cast change that would give anyone pause, particularly after so many years. I remember the loss I felt when my longtime Gyn retired in her early 40s because her back could not withstand the postures necessary for her work.
Here's to a relationship with a new character in your ongoing saga of success.

Danish girl, thanks for the good thoughts and prayers for my upcoming scans and blood work if I may ask, would you also include my younger son in prayers, he is having PET scan and biopsy on his thyroid I would be devastated if he has cancer, as he has young children he has PET on 10/03, so now my scans have lost their importance Wilsie

Thanks all for your good wishes. The scan is done, results when I see my onc on Monday.
Birdlady, I've pushed out 5 days several times in the last 18 months. Not usually as much as a week but from Wednesday to Monday. (Then from Monday to Wednesday). Didn't bother my onc at all.
Wilsie, I hope that your son is OK. I have a friend who had thyroid cancer. They simply took out the thyroid and she is fine. She explained it's like prostate cancer. They monitor later with a blood test.

Wilsie, I'm so sorry you have to go through all of the anxiety of scans for your son as well as yourself. I certainly will be thinking of you and praying for both of you. When I read about young people having cancer I cringe inside thinking of my own children and grandchildren. MaryAnne

"No evidence of metabolically active disease". And I got a nurse who knew the Fas needed to be warmed. Overall [so far] a great day.
