We will travel from Chicago to Inverness,Fl for about 6 weeks. Its east of Homossassa about half hour. Found a really nice house on airbnb. I was thinking of trying to harness train them- start now and make them wear it all the time. Then have large carrier for each (2), but seatbelt the harness leash and let them move around the back of the car. Will have one over night somewhere, a pet friendly motel. Option 2 is just a largeish carrier for each and they just have to deal with it for during the car ride. Maybe a small travel litter in the carrier. The other 2 get to vacation with our daughter 3 hrs away in Urbana,Il. She got permission to have 2 for that time from her land lord.

Good luck with the kitties. I've done non stop from Cincinnati to Clearwater and back more times than I can count with dogs. 16 hours. It's hard, and everybody was glad to get out of the car.

You will be about 2 hours north of me.

Haha Spookie!! Besides they have torn up all the roads going to Tampa and you will wreck your tires and ruin the suspension on your car. Great I leave today and it's sunny and beautiful. Hmmm Love the one about getting new seeds to start the family tree over!

When we moved from CA to Oregon my cat Daisy hit one note and held it all the way to the CA border. She was hoarse by the time we got to our new home. That cat hated being in the car. Horrible car ride.

Julie good luck on your new adventure! Leave your cat in a room and let them get to know each other through the door. Let them out and around each other when you are home and can monitor behavior. All the best! They will work it out.

The cats are doing well. My cat, Dusty, is so curious he'll approach the other cats and sit within 2 feet of them. There is still some growling but they are respecting each other's space and there has been no fighting. I have a spray bottle handy just in case but we aren't home all the time.

Glad kitties are doing well, Julie!

I have a good kitty moving story. Moved from Vegas to San Fran with five cats years ago. Including Jay, the howling cat. Stopped to fill up the car and could hear him inside the store with the windows of the car closed (it was winter). Missed an exit, ended up in a really bad part of Oakland just as it was getting dark. People were stopping and staring at the car because Jay was howling at top volume. Had a very scary looking guy come up to the car when I was at a red light. He banged on the window and I was terrified. I cracked the window and he asked me what I was doing to torture the cat and threatened to call the cops on me! :)
