Lisa, my little Canon 50x zoom is louder on the shudder than my Nikon DSLR's. I don't remember ever changing the sound but my Nikon cameras have a gazillion settings so I bet your does too. I am assuming when you say SLR you are talking digital and not old film camera. You are finding yourself in the same dilemma I was a few years ago. I couldn't get in close enough with my DLSR as I could with my little Canon but I was very limited with what I could do as far as adjusting the aperture. I did have to get a long lens and a teleconverter with my Nikon which for me has to be used on a tripod. Even with that I dream of a longer lens but some of the Nikon long lens are $25,000. Not happening for me!!!

Your grand daughter must be fearless to be a catcher. I used to play shortstop back in the day. Of course in those days it was very limited with women in sports. My sister and I played through the park district.

Love the flower pics. I know spring is around the corner but for us it is a very long corner with the piles of snow in my driveway. I just got home from downstate where they got ice but little snow.

Have fun with your new camera. As far as the shudder sound I am not sure what to tell you. I find a drove of info on youtube videos regarding specific cameras.

Nancy, you can shut off the shutter sound on the Canon 50X. I have one and did.

Looks like a great place to stay. I'll have to look into my settings on my Canon. I don't use it much anymore though. Enjoy your getaway.

Isn't it amazing how BIG eagle's nests are? Ospreys also. And little hummingbirds have nests that only hold 3 eggs.

my old one. Just getting to know my new one. I love that the manual focus is so much easier to use. Also today I used my phone to snap the camera I had set up on my tripod focused on the feeder. Unfortunately the bird didn't come back before I had to leave. Patience, the word that comes with photography. 😊

Is it a Matilla poppy? We have some in our front yard. It was a big clump until some idiot smashed the clump, believing they were opium poppies. They really do look like they're dancing.
