Good morning, ladies. Felix and Louie enjoyed the paper, gift bags and boxes. Both love the tissue paper. They ripped it to tiny pieces and it ends up all over the house. Louie gets in the gift bags and Felix sleeps in the boxes.

We went to our son's house for Christmas and left poor Squeakers alone. He kept DH up all night wanting pets and waking him up by tearing up his nightstand. I was so happy to be in our own bed again that I slept pretty well. DH has a double size futon for us when we visit. Big contrast to our king. No telling what he'll do when we go to Hawaii.

I am using the Rehome website to list our kittens. I had a lady asking if we would drive kitty to Tulsa (my husband said no), and when I sent her photos, she did not respond, so that was the end of that. I had a lady ask for one that listed on her application the reason she wanted one was "our last cat disappeared", that is a no. I've since figured out she has been arrested and they like to grow marijuana (you are entitled to your own opinion on that one).

But then a lady and her daughter came over last night and adopted our Charles, "Charlie" (for charcoal). She is 14 and absolutely thought he was beautiful! She didn't have a carrier, so I gave her ours (you cannot transport a kitty after dark that might run without one in my book). Then I sat and cried, and cried. You're supposed to be happy, it is a good home, she is home-schooled, he will be inside with their 9-year-old cat, so I just keep telling myself that. They did send me a photo, and it made me feel a little better.

Wren, poor Squeakers (love that name). And how could you leave him for Hawaii? (just kidding). Lord knows what he will do!

I’d be a fail. It’s why all my critters are spayed or neutered. I couldn’t ever put the baby fur kids up for adoption. I’d be the crazy dog and cat lady. I couldn’t foster either. I’d want them all.

I've fostered for years and only adopted 2. I liked what a woman said when I first started: I never let them go to a home that's not better than mine. I do think a home with a 14yo girl will be awesome for that kitty. I love it when kids get the cat they want. Mom would never let me have one, so as soon as I married we got a cat. I've also fostered a few that I was happy to see go. Sometimes they're brought to a shelter for a reason. . . It can be very hard to let them go. I love it when they send photos of kitties in their new homes.

I sent photos to the lady who fostered my kittens and their Mama before I adopted them. She sent me back pictures of them as nursing babies! So I saw their Mom too. I was happy to connect with the volunteer and let them know they landed in a good place.

He's gorgeous, his fur looks so luxurious in this photo.

Also MoCatLady, you not only found that baby a good home, you socialized all those kittens so they have a shot at living a much more comfortable life.

    MissouriCatLady -

Bless your sweet loving heart for what you are doing. It is so hard to let kitties go for any reason. As someone else said, I would be a foster fail because I am not strong enough to do what you are doing...

This sweet beautiful picture shows my Baby Sydney and George the first day I moved them from their foster mom's home to my home, 4 years ago. They were rescued at 3 wks old with no mom kitty and placed in foster care immediately. If that foster mom had not been there for them, they would not have survived. If she had been unable to hand them over to me, I would not have these two gorgeous, amazing, strong, healthy, loving Brother Kitties in my life. They make my life so much better. And their foster mom Kiersten made that all possible for all of us.

I hope this story helps to give you a tiny bit of comfort. You are helping these precious kitties and you are improving the lives of people who will love them and silently thank you for what you did for many years to come.

I drove past Joplin last weekend on my way back from Arkansas (nephew college graduation). I wanted to connect with you but there was no time and no easy way to make the arrangements on the spot. I thought of you then and think of you now and want you to know what a good person you are for what you are doing...through losing them and missing them and loving them...you are making the world a better place.

GumDoctor, what part of the country to you live in? I'm in the Kansas City metro area so you might have driven near me also :)

I turned onto 44East near Joplin, heading to St Louis. I did my 3 year periodontics residency at the School of Dentistry in KC. I lived on Oak Trafficway in Gladstone the whole time. Enjoyed living there very much. The residency was a different story. Written or verbal tests every day for 3 years...

DebAL - Robert is just beautiful! Orange cats are so sweet! We have an orange female named Peanut (she used to belong to the girls that lived across the street).

Wren, I like those words, home better than mine, that is very true and I will remember that. I still have four, they are growing. They'd like to get out the door and meet the cats, although I am not quite ready for that. Thank you for those words.

Gumdoctor, what a beautiful photo of Baby Sydney and George, so sweet! Thank you for your words, I struggle to give these guys up. My husband reminds me, don't I want them to have more attention than my 9 cats get; yes, I do. I work and can't spend as much time with everyone as I want (I repeat that in my head). Thank you for those words. The lady that called me and paid for them to be spayed/neutered told me she wanted less sadness in the world. I Googled her name, and her husband is a radiologist at the hospital I go to.

I am having trouble right now with territorial marking in our house (not easy to admit, embarrassing), and it will likely get worse once these guys come out and meet everyone. The little female needs a little more time to heal up from her spay, so they won't be coming out soon. I named her Hissy, she was the first one that let me pick her up, and she hissed, but I have not had one call about her, so this morning I changed her name to Callie (let's see if that works). Half of me hopes noone calls.

I should tell you, Charlie's family lost their home in the tornado, and rebuilt their house. Their cat survived!! I worked with a lady that reunited many cats after the tornado, and what a blessing it was their kitty survived, and they found her! It almost felt like it was the purrfect place for Charlie to go. Thank you for listening, and helping me cope. If you come by here again, please let me know. Many hugs to you ladies, Lisa

Had an early morning wake up from Princess. The silly girl had overfilled her tummy so she ended up getting sick. Mommy had to get up and clean it up in the dark. Daddy slept right through the whole thing, when he got up he asked me why was I cuddling Princess and I said she felt bad because she woke up her Mommy cause she got sick. He picked her right up and kissed her and told her it was okay because that's what mommy's and daddy's are for. She conked out for a nap.

After they rip into the bathroom, mine jump up on the sink hoping I'll turn the faucet on to a drippy stream they can play with. Then they lie down in the bathtub and brace, for vigorous petting.

A group that works with feral cats posted photos of 2 kittens they rescued recently. Medium-haired orange boys named Pumpkin and Spice. About the cutest kittens I've seen all year. I would love to snuggle with them. I doubt Squeakers would approve although I think he would like a playmate.

Perhaps that is a good idea, Wren. Just a thought, so many need homes, especially a home like Squeakers has. Happy New Year to you lovely ladies.
