Feeding time at the zoo. Does anyone else have cats who are addicted to the Temptations Treats (or am I the only one stupid enough to have started down this road?). Every time I walk into the kitchen I am harassed - even tho I give them treats only at night. It’s like the cat version of crack cocaine. My dog one time tried to help herself to a few - never made that mistake again. Now when I get the treat bag out she leaves the room. And she outweighs them by 70 lbs!

He likes them, gets a few while dogs get dinner. He’s not a pest about it. I have the canister by recliner he doesn’t bother it.
This cartoon is him in the morning

Thanks petite. Most of the time I love them dearly, tho about once a day one of the two younger ones (orange, brown tabby) gets reminded that they are going to end up in the barn living on mice if they don’t stop doing whatever it is they are not supposed to be doing. Since I live in Seattle and don’t actually have a barn, they are safe from that fate although I’m not sure they realize that. Come to think of it, maybe they do since they continue to behave badly. I guess I need to come up with aa new threat.

JanieHS, Sometimes Midnight Louie has to go in "time out" for beating up Miss Felix. Sometimes Miss Felix has to go to the "safe room" to keep away from Louie. Louie was afraid of her until he turned 5, now he loves to cause trouble, He rolls her over, jumps over her, and what she really hates, he sniffs her.

DD and DSIL treated us to Super Bowl wings meal from Mission BBQ. Food arrived in a large cardboard box that has been the focus of the cats all afternoon and evening, The above average sized female decided she wanted to be inside the box and was entertaining us by rolling around from end to end and side to side. The youngest and most ornery female came up to the box and stuck her nose in the narrow opening at the lid. Well, the one inside started swatting at her and a battle ensued. It was so funny to see this white paw come out of the box to smack the other one. Then as payback the youngest one climbed on top the box pinning the other in the box. We could hear the one inside pawing at the box trying to get out. Don't worry, there were handle holes on each end so no danger of suffocation. Currently the pudgy one is sitting on top the box like this is her territory. Never play with the toys we purchased but give them a box and they are in 7th heaven. Think we'll keep this box until they tire of it or destroy it.

Like I said you can buy them all the toys you think they would like, that they then lose all interest in and when a box arrives, they are in heaven. It is funny to sometimes watch them try to fit their outsize bodies into boxes that are much too small and wonder why it takes them so long to figure they will not fit. I have 2 who choose to sleep in their cardboard scratch boxes when they have fluffy cat beds within sight. The Mission BBQ box is still being used.

And then, chew the box, and play with the pieces.

Posting the following, in honor of all the rescuers out there.
All the little cat spirits were crossing the rainbow bridge when one of them looked back and saw some cats' souls laying on the other side of the bridge, not moving. "Who are they?" he asked the cat next to him. "Oh, don't you know - they are the souls who had no owner in life and knew no love like we did." "So what are they laying there for?" he asked "Why don't they cross over like us?" "They can't." replied his new friend "Only pets with owners can cross." Just then, all the souls on the other side of the bridge sat up and looked down the road. "What's happening?" asked the little cat. "Watch!" replied his friend. Whereupon a woman was seen walking towards the bridge. She looked to her left and then to her right then opened her arms wide and all the patiently waiting souls got up and went to her.She knelt and touched each and every spirit in turn. They then all proceeded to cross the bridge together. "Who is that?" he asked his friend. "That is someone special." replied his friend "She is a rescuer."

Speaking of rescues - my latest project a young grey tabby - has been sleeping in the rocking chair on my side porch. She is very skittish possibly entirely feral but will wait around for me from a distance to place food out for her. I will set up a trap once the colder weather passes as I know she needs to be spayed. But we only get the characters dropped off out here. She has become fast friends with a raccoon. They eat side by side and after their meal they begin to play. They chase each other around the porch creating a huge racket. It is entertaining to watch. Sometimes she chases, other times the raccoon does. I do not know what it says about me that only the oddballs show up here haha

It says they know you are a woman of kind heart who wont chase them away!

The Rainbow message about the rescuer brought tears to my eyes for all the poor cats who have not found a loving home. I had a "lurker" that would follow me around my yard but never get close enough for me to touch. I fed him on my patio but still could not get close until one day he decided I was his rescuer (after a year of trying). Since I had other cats we brought him in to the garage to see if he was litter trained and once this was established moved him to the basement. Eventually he had the run of the house with the other cats but his "bosom buddy" was my dog. He determined they would share her bed. He was about 4 when we took him in (found out his previous owner had adopted another cat who drove this one away since they were indoor/outdoor cats) and he lived to be nearly 20 years old.
Clawyers was so funny.
The Egyptian goddess Bastet meme was precious. I bought an alabaster statue of her when I was in Egypt to honor how regal cats can be when they so choose. Meanwhile my rotund cat sits like a meerkat, her belly helps balance her!
