crumbs and mice .. brings out the hunter and the investigator in the furry ones ! It’s all in the DNA , those instincts take over. If it is a mouse, careful where you step. My Maxie used to catch them and leave them around the house, and I once stepped on one and it went crunch .. . I remember thinking I stepped on a pretzel. Lol oh my ! Then DH picked it up and put in in a brown bag, and left it for a few days in the foyer, and I though he went shopping and forgot to unpack it.. another oh my lol…
I’m sure we all have mouse stories lol and crumbs stories too!

In our old house which was built in 1927, which we sold last year, when it would get too cold or hot, we would get little “visitors”. How I knew was when Princess would be found in the morning hanging out by the stove or near the dishwasher. She was great a catching them. She caught one one time and before hubby could get it from her, she ran upstairs to our bedroom and dropped it under his side of the bed. He went and got it and disposed of it.
So far in our rental, we have seen no “visitors”. Hope I don’t get any in our new house once it’s built and move in ready.

We had an old house one time and a total remodel. The construction workers left a hole in the floor that they would be finishing the next day. My late Miss Felix, the lump, who never knew she was a cat, went crazy that night. We heard her all night running around the house. The next morning we found a bald mouse. It was still alive. My husband chased it out of the house and we blocked the hole in the floor. The mouse went under the house and died. We smelled it for days. Miss Felix went back to being a lump. I still miss her. She went over the bridge December 23, 2022, right before my husband passed. I think they were connected.

I started teaching, new semester began on Monday. I always let my students bring their pets or children , as I teach on zoom. I promised I’d bring pictures of my cats next class, since I don’t let them into my home office Since they both want to just sit on the computer. I took these to share with them. Igor and Jordan looking soulful. It is a meditation class I teach, so thought these fit the theme. Lol .

They are so adorable. I have a white and black cat and a black cat. Both are boys.

They are so beautiful.

This girl is afraid of humans but love living in the house with us. For a cat that is so fearful of us, she is also very comfortable

@brutersmom she’s beautiful! I love how she can be so vulnerable with her belly up and calmly gaze at you.. love this pic. My last cat (before Igor and Jordan) Max… was a lap cat, but he never exposed his belly. ❤️ She looks comfortable. Cats just open the heart, don’t they? - Rhonda

@rlschaller during covid we trapped her and he baby in the yard. She originally had 2 kittens but one disappeared. We had her spayed and left her stay because she was still nursing he baby. On several occasions she has had the opportunity to leave but she chooses to stay. She is very close to her boy cat Zorro who is about 20 lbs. He is a gentle giant. I believe she would be if she would allow us to touch here. She is now 5. The average life for a cat in the woods. She is a really good cat just nervous around us.

I think it’s wonderful that you’re willing to let her be her and not insist that she be cuddly. I always thought I was the one who needed to adjust

Hi everyone - I'm a long time lurker here. I do post every so often and since I have been going through photos for my Nextdoor petsitting page I thought I'd post a few.
This is Royal and he was a marvelous cat. He had a wonderful life with his guardians who adored him. He passed away this year and I miss having him sit on my lap and look out the window.

This is Mr P. I was told he was terribly shy but he let me come into his space immediately.

@cowgirl13 these boys and girls are so beautiful! Each one has such a distinctive face and vibe. Lol I love cat pics. We had a pet sitter years ago, but since we don’t travel much anymore my downstairs neighbor comes up to feed our boys. Here is Jordan fast asleep as I try to eat my breakfast.! As he takes up most of the table, what’s the problem? Good thing my DH ate already.

@cowgirl13 these guys are adorable. Each of my 4 have completey different personalities. I often wish I had a cat sitter. I have used some in the past but they were college kids. It seems to be getting harder lately.

@cowgil13 you have my dream job - hanging out with all kinds of cats and getting paid for it. I have fostered on and off but my husband is not a fan since i basically end up keeping a kitten every time I do. My goal - if I outlive him - is to become the neighborhood crazy cat lady!

rlschaller I love the picture of your kitty on the table. What is his/her name and how did you find him/her? By the way, your tuxedo has such a fabulous face. Very special - all the white on his forehead.

brutersmom, I would love to catsit for 4 kitties. It's only happed with one cat family - feeding was quite a process and I had to feed everyone in different places/rooms. I love your big humongous tuxedo - I think you said he is a rescue? Never seen a cat quite like that one.

janiehs, fostering is such a wonderful endeavor for the animals. I fostered a 4 week of kitty who had been picked up on the streets in the worst part of the city. I was only to foster her for 3 days until she could be evaluated for adoption but it went on and on and on….She was a beautiful black kitty and I had her until she was 11 or 12. Miss her dearly❤️

Midnight Louie loves treats

@petite1 lol my boys love their treats too. Midnight Louie is beautiful. My DH is the treats man, and every time he gets up and goes inside they run after him…hoping !
@cowgirl13 the big boy almost 26 pounds who is laying on the table is Jordan, mostly black with a white belly. Igor is the tuxedo, a sweet boy. They both came from the ASPCA. Jordan was rescued by the ASPCA police from a hoarder . Igor was a just a kitten they found. My husband and son went there 7 years ago to find a kitty for my son, and came home with these 2. Jordan we think was a year old and Igor 3 months. When my son moved out the following year, he said Dad needs the cats, I’m going to leave them for him . ❤️

Louie and his brothers were abandoned by their previous owner. She left the 5 kittens and only took one. Precious Paws and animal control were able to find homes for all but Louie. That is because Louie wanted me. He hopped right in my cat carrier and has been happy ever since.
