Hey Leatherette - I hope you are doing OK. I just wanted to mention that you might want to give an eye mask a try. After I used mine yesterday, my tearing stopped and hasn't returned yet. I have one from Bausch & Lomb that my husband picked up at Walgreeen's. My eye doctor prescribed it because there are glands along the inner eye lid & mine were clogged (assumed from the taxotere). I heat this one in the microwave for 15 seconds and then leave it on for 10 minutes. A friend of mine uses one called the "eye bra" from Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

They aren't worried about anything else, so I'll just get magic mouthwash and be out of here. Thanks for the well wishes and advice about eyemasks, Dawn and Paulette

While I'm wearing it and thinking about it, I really like this hat. It is comfortable and completely covers the head.
Not the best pic of me, but I'm sitting in fluorescently lit pharmacy. It's from a company called Flipside Lids. They are 35 dollars, but I guess I bought it on a "treat yo self" day. They have cuter ones on their website. It is the "weekender" style. They had some pink ribbon ones if you are into that.

nice hat Latherette I got couple hats from ACS plus a wig. We need to treat ourselves. I haven't bought any clothes because I'm not sure am I going to lose weight or not. Glad to know you got the magic mouth wash. The eye mask I used to use it after the heat pad my doc suggested me to massage your eyes for few minutes.

Hope you get the help you need, Iris. I can't afford it now, but could when my son was a baby, and it was so nice!
Uh, I am not finding the magic mouthwash to be so magical. It numbs it very briefly for me. It is better than not at all, I guess

Leatherette- don't know if this will help or not: my insurance said no to the magic mouthwash so I continued rinsing with water, salt, baking soda and then use Blistex Kanka-A on my mouth sore(s). After 4-6 days the sore goes away and only the area where the sore is is numbed

In chair for AC #3, woot one more to go and I'm done with this and on to taxol.
leatherette- when I got my prescription for magic mouthwash it just said to swish and spit. But I looked it up on line and the manufacturer directions were to swish 1-2min which I found to be really hard to do as that stuff is vile. However it made my tongue numb for hours.
I was crazy meticulous with mouth care while I had the sore. Every 3 hours I rinsed with either salt or baking soda rinses. Then I used my water pick to clean between my teeth then the magic mouthwash. I felt like I spent my whole day doing mouth care. But within 4 days it was healed. It was on my tongue and it was big.
I haven't had another sore since thank goodness.

Leatherette- I use waterpik also then I use salt balding power water rinsed it helps me so far. From what I heard from my nurse AC doesn't has that much SE for mouth sore. Maybe that's why I didn't have that much trouble.
Day 4 very tiring today and lost appetite also. Hair is falling down everywhere I am afraid to wash my hair. Now I'm debating when should I shave. I still have 80% of my hair now.

Paulette- I know I actually skipped washing my hair one day just so I could hang on to it a little longer. Then it gets to the point you just are sick of the shedding. Then I gave it an extra good wash to get as many loose strands as possible out.
I didn't shave till it was pretty much gone as my scalp was tender and I knew if it was buzzed the stubble would rub on my pillow, scarves etc and be irritating. Once my scalp no longer hurt I shaved it.

I skipped washing my hair for a couple days but dang f just wiping the top of my head in the shower ended up with my hand full of hair
Finally was able to wash all sheets plus beding so hoping the scratchie feeling will be better

Good luck today Tesse!
Love your cap Leatherette! Sorry about your mouth sore pain.
My hair started really racing for the floor yesterday. I keep trying to get all the loose hairs out, but it's never-ending! The good news is that my Nurse Navigator told me that the salon chain "Visible Changes" gives free wigs to cancer patients! They have you pick from a book, then trim it to suit you. Will also shave your head if you would like. No charge. I called an hour ago, now I am waiting for my trim, I found a wig I love!!!

Leatherette - I had a bad mouth sore after round #1. The thing that finally helped calm it down was rinsing with a salt/baking soda mix and then putting honey on the sore. I put honey 3-5 times per day. It was the thing that finally seemed to work. I know it sounds strange, but it is a natural anti-inflammatory, and it worked really well. At night, I'd put it on right before I went to sleep so it would stay on as long as possible. Within 24 hours I saw good improvement and by the second day, the sore was there, but not painful and definitely decreasing in size.
Hope this helps!

I would give the honey a try if it happens again, the magic mouthwash made me gag.
#3 is in the bag, waiting for the last of my saline to run in and the neulasta pod. Then the 2 hour trip home and a stop to pick up Panera chicken soup.
It was an uneventful infusion, slept through most of it this time.

Cute cap, Leatherette! I'll look around and see what I can find. I got a hat at the wig shop the other day ... holy moly, they're expensive ($30 seems to be about average).
I got this pink one ... i wanted to go out and cheer on my team mates that were walking in the 3-Day for the Cure in Michigan. So, a cute hat was a must

Cute Caps JenRuns and Leatherette!
To all of you in the process of losing your hair - I took the plunge and buzzed it yesterday. I'm SO MUCH HAPPIER than with the shedding and worrying about bald spots. I'm not afraid of the shower anymore, LOL. I took a bit of time to cry and process all my feelings but once I did it I was relieved. I'd post a pic but this is a public site and I don't want it out there forever so if anyone needs inspiration PM me and I'll send my GI look
Third AC was today and I'm trying to get everything I can done before the big crash + chemo brain. Blarg.

Thanks for all the advice on mouth sores, everyone! I am going to make more salt water/baking soda right now, and I have a waterpik Insurance didn't cover my magic mouthwash, either. It cost 17 dollars.
Jenruns, you look good in pink! Me, not so much

leatherette- wow $17. That is great. My pharmacy said the mouthwash would be $77 without insurance

My small bottle of magic mouthwash cost $28. Dodgersgirl, $77 is a crime, good grief

JenRuns - Love the cap! I need to find a good cap!
purplestargazer - You are an inspiration. I need to buzz/chop my hair and think I'm going to do it tonight. I've already started to wear the full head scarf, and the hair that is left is a mess, really.
Teese - Congrats on round #3!! I'm hopeful I'll be cleared for round 3 this Friday. I meet with my oncologist tomorrow to hear the new plan, and am feeling so much better (just a few hives hanging on, but not too bad at all, and those that reappear when I get hot don't itch, so I think that's a good sign!).
Here's to another week, and less SE's!

Thanks for all the mouth sore remedies! Other than rawness on my tongue or the sides of my mouth, I haven't had any major mouth sores *knock on wood*. I have been pretty religious about the Biotene and using it at least twice a day. I have round 2 of CT this week, so I'm anticipating more mouth issues... Hair is still falling out in handfuls. I washed my hair on Friday, then again today, hoping I get a break soon.
I attended the Look Good Feel Better session at our local ACS. We got a kit with high-end makeup, and thought it was pretty worthwhile. I was hoping they would give us the OPI Nail Envy that others have been using to help with nail issues. But they just gave us an OPI brand neutral nail polish. Also, this session didn't include a free wig, but we were able to go through the wig bank afterwards and pick something out. I didn't get one since I already got a few from the other cancer center last week. You can also go to the website at http://lookgoodfeelbetter.org/, to learn some of the same tips & tricks from the live session.
Mari: How was round 2 of CT? I have my 2nd round in a few days, and am hoping my SEs are similar to the 1st round.
Teese, hope this final round of AC is easy on the SEs for you!
Leatherette, love the cap! I had purchased some head coverings on amazon, but looking at getting hats now. I perused the website and found some really cute ones!

Good morning Ladies hope everyone have a good Tuesday !!

Good morning Paulette! How are you today?
I got my hair buzzed short at the salon yesterday when I went for the free wig they offer. It's about 1/2 inch long now. Someone recommended using a lint roller to pick up the small hairs as they release and it works great! Plus, styling my hair with a lint roller is so ridiculous that I just have to laugh.

I'm tired of seeing my hair falling scheduled this Friday to have my hair shave. I know it's going to be a sad day but .....
Day 5 - is a better day for me. Took my morning walk and think about how to deal with constipation today. I guess it's prune and juice time.
Dmjmom - styling with lint roller 😂😂😂 I need to try this out the next few days !
