thank you I’m dealing with a severe vaginal yeast infection with blisters right now and one of them popped open this morning and was bleeding very scary and painful thought I was for siren getting sent to the ER because of the area it’s in burn was told to just tough it out since I’m already on medicine for it and to try to keep it dry which is impossible with it’s location.

hray1993, no underwear for now. And try to keep your legs open as much as possible so air can dry it out. I'm sorry.

did they give you diflucan (fluconazole)? I had a yeast infection after my first Chemo, they gave me that pill and within hours I was feeling better. I was also using OTC treatment but, I'm pretty sure that 1 pill made the biggest difference

HI friends, I took some time off from all things breast cancer. I wanted to enjoy the break between chemo and my DMX. My hair is growing back, but it feels so slow. Scattered Energy, your hair growth looks great, more than I have. Mine is more in the back, less on top and in front. It's frustratingly slow. My nails are doing ok. I have one toenail that has a big black spot so far, i'm trying tea tree oil on it.

I go for my second Herceptin and Perjetta only infusion on Monday, as well as my seeding for the DMX. Then Tuesday is the big surgery day. I'm nervous, but also just ready to get it over with already. I'm getting temporary expanders placed as well. My surgery is scheduled for 11:40am and they told me to expect to go home that evening. It seems fast, but I'm hoping it all goes well and home I go.

I'm off to my Covid test today and then I'm supposed to quarantine all the way until Tuesday. My family will quarantine with me, so it's going to be a quiet, hot 4th of July weekend for us. My parents are nearby, and have had a decline over the last few months, so I've been trying to help them, and investigating assisted living. It's been exhausting, and stressful to help them during covid and my cancer, I want to make sure they are safe and happy.

Happy 4th of July to all!

Fab4mom, good luck on your surgery. Let us know how it goes. And as for the break, I think we can all understand.

For those that finished chemo, are you experiencing pain anywhere?

Before I started chemo I did some dental work and this week I started experiencing tooth pain on the left side of my mouth. I went to the dentist and after checking my mouth and doing x-rays he says I do not have nay cavities. He gave me Sensodyne to see if that alleviates it. I have been taking Tylenol daily before bed to calm the pain.

Also, my leg muscles hurt like I have been exercising, which I have not lol

I feel like my body is finally waking up after chemo so all the nerves are reconnecting per say lol

scatteredenergy - I had lots of pain at the end of chemo. My legs got so sore like exercise and tight. My teeth occassionally hurt too, but I haven't been to the dentist yet. The leg pain is starting to subside

mmorigan - I'm sorry you didn't get the complete response you were hoping for, but 90% is awesome. Did they change your treatment plan? I'm already planning on radiation, but hoping to get complete response and just stick with HP. I have heard Kadycla isn't that bad.

Busy two days for me. Tomorrow I go for mammogram and radiation seeding to prepare for surgery, and then head straight over to HP infusion. Tuesday is DMX, but my plastic surgeon has to be in office in the morning, so I have to stop by his office on the way to the hospital to get marked up, and then he'll be there later. I guess the breast surgeon starts the surgery, so he doesn't have to be there before hand. It's alot of stop, because I have to go to nuclear medicine before surgery too, and the surgery is at a hospital i'm not familiar with. And of course I'll be on my own for everything. Randomly, my new next door neighbor is a nurse on the surgical floor where I'm going. She said she probablly won't be in my surgery, but she will make sure to come see, and it's so reassuring to know someone there.

I hope everyone had a great 4th. It was quiet for us, but nice.

I start Kadcyla tomorrow so I'll let you know. Like with all things it seems subjective to the person. So we'll see how it goes.

Best of luck with your surgery on Tuesday. It seems like a lot going on and very stressful with all the running around but, don't let it get to you.

Fab4mom, I'm glad I'm not the only feeling these aches and pains. Good luck. It sucks that we have to do everything by ourselves due to this virus.

they did give me diflucan. I took the first diflucan on Thursday during Last chemo and had another one I took yesterday. They also gave me nystatin cream. I feel like it's helping some but these blisters are taking forever to go away. I think I'm gonna run out of cream. That's a good idea about keeping legs open I'll try that and see if that helps some. This is by far the worst side effect I've experienced. It burns so bad but idk anything else they can give me that they haven't already

smichaels, thank you for the congrats! It was a very emotional day for me and I’m so glad that it’s over. If I wasn’t dealing with this yeast infection I’d be feeling pretty Okau right now

I was curious, how long did everyone have to wait from their surgery to when they started radiation?

I just started a thread about it on the radiation board. So far someone said 8 weeks and someone else was like 5 months because they started a different chemo after surgery before rads but that’s all the answers I’ve hot so far

hray1993, hopefully is not too long. I want to put in my implant in Jan. so I can enjoy next year's summer.

my cousin had to wait 2 months from her hysterectomy to start radiation.

I think it's hard because most people get adjuvant treatment (chemo, radiation).

    ETA: I found this Online.

    Radiation after Surgery

Radiation therapy usually begins three to eight weeks after surgery unless chemotherapy is planned. When chemotherapy is planned, radiation usually starts three to four weeks after chemotherapy is finished. You will likely get radiation therapy as an outpatient at a hospital or other treatment facility.

morrigan_2575, because I can't get in a pool or beach unless I have healed from my breast surgery. I'm having the bilateral mastectomy with TE on the 14th so this summer is done. I won't heal fast enough to enjoy it. Then early next year I'll have the TE replaced by the implants but if it is done too late into the year because of the radiation, it will be another summer I can't enjoy.

    ah gotcha.

I know the exchange surgery is easier but I don't know how long after the exchange you can go in water. It's a good question.

Conversely you could delay the exchange until after the summer so you can enjoy the pool

Mostly I'm just hoping 1) there's a COIVD vaccine and 2) My treatments are over and I'm healthy by August 2021 so I can go to Africa.

@morrigan_2575 - what you posted about radiation after surgery matched up with just what I had. As someone said, that's true for those of us who started with surgery, then chemo, then radiation. And the radiation oncologist will want your incisions to be mostly healed since radiation is such a strain on your skin. Best Wishes, everyone, and Happy 4th.

morrigan_2575, I guess I can do that too as a last resort but I kind of want everything done quickly so I can forget about this cancer lol

Oh and Africa, how cool. I would love to one day visit Cape Town.

Totally understandable and I hope that it all works out for you so that you can get the exchange done as soon as possible and not lose the summer pool time.

It's so funny until you brought it up, I kept thinking of the exchange surgery and no biggie. Now, I'm wondering if it's another 3-4 weeks of sleeping on my back 😟.

My cousin and, I had planned and African Safari for 2020 but, that got canned when we both were diagnosed with cancer (she had Uterine). We decided to push the trip to 2021 as a celebration but, that won't happen unless there's a vaccine/treatment by next summer.
