I read an article (wish I had kept it now) about how sometimes we are a bit too upstanding. I think there is something to that. It is wonderful to do your very best to be honest, dignified, thoughtful, and bi-partisan to work with others. All good things. Un-fortunately, if the other side doesn't behave the same way you are ALWAYS going to be at a dis-advantage. We are always taking the highest part pretty much of the high road and when things don't work out we don't seem learn you can't always get the needed result that way.
I do think sometimes we need to throw the Reps. crap right back on them. We don't make them carry and be responsible for what they say and do, and the wt. often falls back on us — because we don't want to lose our reputation for partisanship. I do think we could let more of our hair down without losing what we ultimately stand for. It is just a feeling I've had for a while too — that we think we have to stay on the upper level of the high road. That just doesn't translate much when you have the other side willing to go to almost any lengths to get their power and greed satisfied. Like FG they will push anything and anyone of their way.
