Coming ten days before inauguration. Not getting jail time, but he's not getting off either. Then again, a sad day will be coming when a U.S. president (not that he really is any such thing) is a convicted felon. If I had read a novel and this was part of it, I would have seen it as soooo fictional as to be un-believable.

I really am of two minds about FG and jail. I'm actually not sure he would really GET it if he had been put in jail. Even more so now that the dementia has taken so much control. He should have gone to the slammer shortly after J-6. Merrick Garland drug his feet and here we are — four yrs. later - almost to the day.
Justice John Roberts now issuing warnings to FG to heed the court — after he set it up for him to dismiss the court for his immunity. Back in my youth I would have heard something like " well, sh*t or get off the pot". In a bit more decent language, make up your mind, the giving with one hand and trying to snatch back with the other just makes you weak and indeed not too bright.
At any rate, I do think we wouldn't have had to deal with FG at all had he been handled as he should have been. I believe in proper law and order, but that is not what FG received, or he would have been in jail long ago. Now we are showing the rest of the world that we are not so great after all and there isn't so very much to look up to.
That is sad indeed but such is the goings on of sociopathic narcissists who are quite ill. The couple I've known had such a strong tendency to toss so much at you that you can't really tell exactly what is going on and who is actually making it be confusing and upsetting. It becomes so much easier for them to avoid consequences until quite late and the later it is the less it seems to be able to have a 'teaching' effect at all. So to that degree FG would not learn anything, but it would offer the rest of us some protection and some freedom of NOT having to have this tainted being having much if anything to do with decent people trying to live an honest, uplifting life.
