miriandra, I think the headline Golden Age provides a clue as to which, but let's fact it he will do both and then wipe his ass with the Constitution. He has no moral or ethical compass and really no Repugnicans are willing to establish boundaries, so he will run amok.

I was surprised when Moscow Mitch didn't vote for Hegseth but the woman vet who raised all the ruckus initially got beaten into submission because she is up for re-election. Let's hope her constituents learn how awful he is going to be and use this against her. He is another one who will unleash horrible things on the military since the aim is to protect the U.S. not grow a crop of warriors. He will eliminate women or make them so subordinate they will leave and will most likely inflict the same criteria on minorities because they can't pass the standards he wants to raise (eliminates a lot of those poor boys from the south as well). That's what the Roman's did and we know what happened to them.

I don't think anyone should have to live in fear and as Democrats we need to identify candidates who can stand up to the Repugnicans and will support the return to a more civil U.S. I think we need more men like Hakeem Jeffries for our future.

Taking a break here but hoping to get this in for you. I'm having a bunch of kinks:

    Shocking and Awful

    26 Jan 2025 • 0 comments

Trump spent Week One personally endorsing key proposals from Project 2025 that he had previously called "absolutely ridiculous and abysmal."

The next four years will be a nightmare. On Sundays, I'll be highlighting a few articles and ideas that I've found useful—and that might help us figure out how to get through it all.

The first days of the new Trump administration produced less "shock and awe" than expected in terms of immigration raids, but plenty of Trumpy play-acting orchestrated to delight racists, tech bros, and Sharpie collectors.

In order to win the election, Trump had loudly disavowed the "absolutely ridiculous and abysmal" policies laid out in Project 2025.

But—surprise!—he spent Week One back at the White House personally endorsing many of them.

With his Sharpie working faster than his brain, Trump signed dozens of shocking, awful Executive Orders designed to terrorize the vulnerable, spread disease, destroy the planet, increase the price of eggs, and give Christo-Fascists more ways to "End Big Government" by making it bigger and more intrusive.

Meanwhile, even if Commandant Tom Homan got off to a slower than expected start, that doesn't mean ICE enforcement won't become more shocking and more awful in the days and weeks ahead.

    ICE Understands the Assignment

Trump's executive orders have expanded ICE's ability to arrest and detain unlawful migrants on US soil.

Areas previously deemed "sensitive," such as schools, hospitals and churches are no longer off-limits.

State and local police will be increasingly involved in immigration enforcement duties.

To make sure ICE knew who they were targeting, Trump told Sean Hannity this week "that you can tell how much 'trouble' immigrants are going to be for the country based on the 'look' of them."

In New Jersey, that message was heard loud and clear.

On Thursday, as PIX 11 reported, ICE raided a Newark seafood depot, zeroing in exclusively on the company's Hispanic workers.

Three people were detained in the raid, including a US citizen and military veteran whose military ID was rejected by the agents.

    As NJ101.5 reported:

U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J. 12th District, denounced the raid by "jackbooted thugs," calling it a "callous disregard for the laws of New Jersey, the rights of our residents, and the Constitution of the United States.”

"After pardoning violent insurrectionists, Trump orders ICE agents to detain and harass innocent people, including a veteran who served our country. This is the reality of Trump’s reign of terror, but it’s not the America generations have fought for," Watson Coleman said.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka noted that ICE raided the "local establishment" without a warrant and said: "This egregious act is in plain violation of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees ‘the right of the people be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures."

Current law states that ICE does need a warrant to enter a business establishment and make arrests on the premises.

But in the new regime, the law won't help you. Which is why Democrats must...

    Impeach Trump Now!

It's may seem as pointless as opposing Pete Hegseth's nomination.

    But hear Jason Sattler out:

The pardons of the January 6th rioters and coup plotters are the

    greatest single betrayal

by an American president in our history. It doesn’t matter how many people voted for Donald Trump. It doesn’t matter that there’s no hope of real accountability with Republicans controlling Congress and the Constitution, making removal impossible with today’s Republican Party. Democrats should still obviously introduce articles of impeachment...

They should do this because it’s the right thing to do.

They should do it because no matter how bad you think January 6th was and the role the people he just pardoned played in that attack on your ability to rule yourself,

    it was worse

    .

They should do it because the men Trump pardoned will do horrible and illegal things likely involving horrible violence, for that’s what they were pardoned to do.

But they should also do it because of the pardons that will inevitably come that could "legalize" now unthinkable atrocities.

Let's face the facts, he is not intelligent enough to have selected or to have been involved in writing the language required in the many executive orders he signed this week. Just listen when he speaks, he can't connect concepts, goes off on tangents that have no bearing on the issue at hand and has a pattern of repeating his desires for retribution. In other words, he is a puppet for those who are pulling the strings that prop him up.

He disavowed anything to do with Project 2025 because he had nothing to do with its development, it was a blueprint developed for him by those who wish to return us to the white supremacy that Penn sought to escape when he founded Pennsylvania to escape religious and personal persecution. If he had offered token support during his campaign perhaps some of his followers would not have drunk the Kool-Aid. However, I seriously doubt they have the intellect to know they are the architects of their own destruction. He will wreak havoc on them and not blink an eye as he is doing it.

We need to become more informed on the contents of Project 2025 and offer resistance where we can. We need to support local government in their resistance to the ICE raids. Going into an elementary school is not acceptable nor to be tolerated. Refusing to accept that a veteran because he is Puerto Rican is not a citizen is unacceptable and he should not have been arrested.

Reach out to your congressmen and Senators to let them know how you feel about the executive orders he has signed that are contrary to the American way of life. They are trying to cow us and surrender is not an option. Unfortunately one of my senators is the bootlick McCormick who is a millionaire and will play the ass kiss game, so I will send him a message but I really don't expect he'll change. Fetterman will be more approachable and didn't cave in to vote for Hegseth.

On that topic, we now have a president, 2 supreme court justices and this jerk who have been accused of sexual abuse. What wonderful credentials when they all proclaim to rid our country of aliens who might abuse women. I am less afraid of the aliens than I am of our elected officials. They have placed their hands on a Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution and so far, none of them have or will.

I will climb off my soap box for now but have no intentions of being the only one to express political rhetoric on this forum. The silent majority has proven it doesn't work, so what say you?

I may be backer sooner rather than later. Soap boxes can be good things and really I was getting weary not knowing if anyone cared that I tried to find thought provoking items to share — whether memes or articles.

I am definitely on board with those who tell us how much good they are going to do and then just help themselves after all. I do know a big part of that has to do with whom really has the power at any given moment or 4 yr. presidency, plus Congress. I certainly think we as Democrats have not clarified this very well while the Reps. go to town on painting us as the bad guys — no matter how much good we might do since they tend to verbally steal the credit.

So much to fix, but as well, hopefully there will be lots and lots of pushback while we get thru this awful mistake that never should have happened. I will maintain my high hopes of people painfully seeing the error of their ways much sooner than the later that has been quoted. Everyone who feels cheated (I think there are plenty in the middle——and us) should be willing to turn their backs totally on the tyrant. And for the millionth time or so it seems I say 'if everyone stood up and said no at once' the game would be up. Of course his most loyal will never say no, but if all the rest do, then the game is over. There is only power to be received — and if you change that ratio into power denied the bets go to the other side.

I know we can do this. I pray that we do. I am going to get every day wanting a better world because that is what can be had. I hope everybody else wants it too.

Seems to be hitting Columbia as we speak because they would not accept two of his planes with immigrants or whomever they were. He's going to haul of anyone who doesn't look white enough apparently.

Hard to laugh right now, but there is a great element of a kernel of truth here. Actually, right now to the rest of the world rather than laughing they must wonder where is our right mind.

Were they smart enough to understand they were once again courting a con. Or did they give up thinking and studying as too difficult. They did do a horrid disservice to those they may have called friends.

Watched Face the Nation this morning and Vance was on for his first interview. Let's say he tries to control the direction of any interview while not really answering and then uses the "let's blame Biden" tactic. I don't think trying to talk over Margaret Brennan is a good game plan. She is much too bright and too well prepared to play footsy and she can make you look like a smacked ass without much effort. He raises his voice and tries to dominate her because he doesn't really respect women in power positions. I think she did put him in his place with grace. I am sure the toad (my new name for the president) will post something denigrating on his blog later.

I thought it was funny how he kept referring to the point that he was Catholic but none of his behaviors reflect those teachings. I was raised Catholic, no longer practice, but know when I see a religious hypocrite and he is one. Using it as a defense means you do not have any answers other than what the toad tells you is permissible. This is not loyalty, it is fealty and this is not a kingdom, so that needs to go.

I do not respect any politician who has to lay blame on the previous term to prove a point without providing what they will do. The blame game is used by insecure people who don't have real answers or plans and this seems to be the position of the republicans. No answers, just diversions.

I admire the Bishop for what she said during her sermon. I am not religious but what she said reflects her beliefs and teachings. She considers herself an instrument of the Lord and she spoke her heart. I would love to thank her personally.

As far as Musk is concerned, he comes from a country where apartheid was the rule of the land during the first 20 plus years of his life. He is trying to initiate racially based riles here like those in force when he was growing up. He is a bigot and personally I find him and his behavior repugnant. He is not a genius, he just happens to have lots of money and access to people smarter than himself to advise him. He's the Rasputin of the US. Glad that he cannot have free access to the Oval office as he would like.

I see lots of potential for failures in the choices the toad has made to head departments. I think Rubio will be pushed out within a year because he has always been on the fringe and not central to the toad's plan. I expect the demands of being in charge of the DOD will cause Hegseth to reveal his true Peter Principle value and it will be interesting to see if he can not fall off the wagon. The issue is he is not fit to run the DOD and our troops will suffer from poor leadership. Fingers crossed there will be a lot of turnover as their was in the first term.

I'm with her and Betrayal. She is only expressing what she knows in her heart to be right, just, and honorable to all. Not her fault if a thin-skinned baby bully takes it on a deeply personal level and makes it an insult to himself.

I always wonder if somewhere in that tortured mind it is known that your views are wrong, but turning them to into something against rather than for you gives you the personal permission to obscure the whole matter so the other party is deeply in the wrong.

Not something I ever really thought about, but it resonates so much.

At the same time, the fact that he spent yrs. on t.v. built him into something he never was and gave people an idea of who he was that was totally corrupt. He, is like many 'stars' who end up in everyday life looking rather plain. It was camera's, make-up people, and scripts that painted a picture for all to see, but it was not and never was reality. Now, once again we are stuck with an interloper who has spent most of his life NOT himself — by disease, tv and hobnobbing with con artists. By using the chestiest lawyers and being that way himself. How sad to go so far and still be NOTHING.

A battle for sure but Trump is wrong — but is going to try anything he wants and see what people allow him to get away with. I hope the IG's stand pat for as long as possible. I'm curious about what detailed reasons would allow a firing.?
