Minnesota became a "trans sanctuary" state in 2023. It banned conversion therapy and ensured protections for people who traveled there to receive gender-affirming care. Leigh Finke was elected to the Minnesota House in 2022 as the first openly trans legislator in the state. The Minnesota trans community is vowing to fight for their hard-won rights and protections against a scientifically ignorant and socially dangerous federal edict that denies their existence. That is not embarrassing. That is noble, and the right thing to do. Here are the real faces of Minnesota trans people, not the boorish cartoonist's take.

I just got back from my post-Inauguration vacation, during which I watched as little news as possible (and what little I did watch made me feel sick). Trump is apparently trying to beat the 53 days that it took for Hitler to dismantle Germany's constitution.

Ruth,
Current reality is depressing. With respect to your comment on Hitler and his 53 days of demolishing democracy, I have to express something which I hesitate to say out loud. This talk about having to put up with trump and co for four years or the idea that midterm elections will shift power in Congress is wishful thinking. I do not believe that those currently in power, and I don’t just mean trump but all the evil yet different “supporters “ who see him as a path to push their own agendas, will simply let it go via the usual electoral process. They will do virtually anything to insure they remain in power and they have no shame or remorse if others are stepped on in the process. If trump and those backing him feel that there are too many obstacles to their agenda, I have no doubt that trump will declare martial law (and I will scream if I see it spelled Marshall) and suspend the Constitution. There is no line he won’t cross. And I hope with all my heart that I’m wrong.
PS: Those J6 folks that he pardoned? Those are his black shirts (Mussolini) and brown shirts (Hitler) out of jail and ready to be the violent enforcers of his bidding.

I share so much concern as well and almost more for those around FG. He is their shield for now. I had the feeling yesterday that they are just waiting to dump him. Before they do, they are going to see how much he can destroy for them —- and likely let him sop up the notoriety for it. This goes double for things that are especially bad. They will get to see what is not workable and can then come up with perhaps better avenues when they are rid of him.
While they are indeed power hungry, I'm not so sure they can throw the United States over. I do know that they have garnered a great deal of support which is worrisome to me due to the fact that there are a lot of former military. Still there are a whole lot of us as well. I hope we can make it, and I have just as much faith in our side as ANY of the other side. In some ways more because we are for everyone, and they never have been. Of course it does take way more than JUST numbers and that has a lot to do with my concern — but I am way more concerned with the people behind FG rather than him.
He has no idea that he has become the useful idiot for the people behind hm just as much as he had been for Putin.

The deep emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God.

More missing soul's people.

True. He appears to be standing up to FG guy now, but all those years when he bent over the other way — a whole lot.

A small one though — make sure to have a sharp knife.

Someone checked on this and it seems the father did get released later, but who knows if everyone nabbed who shouldn't have been, will be so fortunate. Beware.

Knowlege makes a difference which is why he is trying to make sure you have less and less of it.

Wasn't this lifted almost immediately ===hmmmm.

Calling it making taxes great again ……………Really.

I think trump would have no issue with declaring martial law and suspending the constitution and would do it as easily as he has signed so many executive orders so far. There is simply no line he won’t cross. And far too many in elected office would acquiesce. As to the military, the trump factions and the militias that will support them (Michael Flynn has been too quiet) could brutally take over. I actually think they want violence and a civil war. Again, I desperately want to be wrong.

ICE raided a N. Philly car wash yesterday and to see grown men running for their life is just sad. When these businesses and services fail, who will provide them to those consumers who take them for granted. Many would not want their children providing this service nor the other services such as crop picking, cleaning houses/commercial buildings, lawn and tree services, restaurant service (mostly in the kitchen or dish washing) meat packing (slaughter houses) industries, chicken, beef or pork farms, etc. When these come to a screeching halt, prices will rise and inflation will be through the roof. So the flip side of the coin is most are law abiding people who provide valuable services, pay taxes for which they receive no government services and only want to live where they are free of fear or seek a better life for their children. I find this roundup to be despicable and the fact that people are ratting out anyone with an accent or different skin color is reprehensible. We are becoming Nazi Germany and that is to be feared.
The repugnican senator who said that children receiving free school lunches need to get jobs at McDonald's doesn't get that with a minimum wage of $7.25, like he promotes, they can't even afford to eat there! How can you deny children food they need to develop their brains? Meanwhile his state is one that probably relies on this the most. We need to get the rich out of government because they don't understand what it means to be poor.

Be sure to contact your Senators and ask them to reject the nomination of Robert Kennedy Jr. for the Department of Health and Human Services. If your Senator is a Republican you can use Mitch McConnell's words. To put someone charge whose purposes have been to "undermine public confidence in proven cures are not just uniformed-they're dangerous."

Thanks, Ruth. I just sent a message to John Fetterman but won't waste my time on the diehard trumper McCormick. He's a lost cause and created from the mold of Pat Toomey who also was a "yes" man for the toad. Hoping I am not too late.

RFK has another day of testimony. I am still connect with the bright red Senators from my state on an matter of importance. I (and other ND friends) don't want them to ever think that everyone in this state agrees with what is happening.

Wow !!! I won't shed one lousy tear for this 'ahem' very fine fellow who is also a clansman and huge lawbreaker. Obviously he can happily break the law until he gets caught red-handed and comes time to face the music.

I think things are already well out of hand.

I love it, totally and absolutely. I could think of a couple of others as well, but whatever turns the hotline off I'm all for.
Came back to say, I've been giggling on and off since I read this one.

BREAKING: Beloved former Democratic Governor Jay Inslee sounds the war trumpets and says that Donald Trump has "woken up" the "sleeping giant" of the Democratic Party with his disastrous Executive Orders. This is the last thing MAGA wanted to hear...
"If there's a bright shiny bauble of hope here it's a recognition that the days of grieving of the Democratic Party are over," Inslee, the former governor of Washington, said on Morning Joe.
"I'm officially by Executive Order declaring those days of depression and passivity and sort of playing footsie with Donald Trump — those days are over, we're not going to do that anymore," he stated.
"And if you're listening to this show and you're understanding the outrages that are going on, this is a day for you to call League of Conservation Voters and give them a hand or Planned Parenthood or some other entity," he continued. "And call a Republican Congressman and give holy hell for what they're doing here."
"This is not a moment to be in our cups anymore feeling sorry for ourselves," said Inslee. "This was a very narrowly decided election. We Democrats are different than Donald Trump. We respect the voters and recognized it and didn't stage an insurgency."
"But now is the time to get up there on our hind legs and confront this guy every single place we can."
"And frankly, my party has been just a little bit too passive and quiet in this regard. I'm sensing we've woken up in the last twenty-four hours," he continued. "You hear the voices of Senator Patty Murray, who's fighting this."
"You're seeing our attorney general, that's the first in the nation to get an injunction against this effort to take away birthright citizenship, which is clearly unconstitutional," he went on. "I think you're seeing an awakening of a sleeping giant here, and we've got to keep that giant active." Inslee is absolutely right. Trump is the president and we can't change that, but we can fight tooth and nail to stop his most destructive policies. And in two short years we can wrest back control of Congress and set this country straight.
We're ready to fight. Are you?

Well now, I think at those prices this batch of eggs may last for some time.

You then are not only ignorant, you are dangerous. If tomorrow is like today you may also be a goner which I'm praying for. Don't know — maybe a lot of people are praying for you……
