So a little off the right now beaten path, but I put it on Facebook because I'm tired of my friends and family -- just holding out their hands as far as they can get them for these things mentioned and the stimulus etc. -- while being more or less traitors to all that went before to get this for them.

You know, I think this current team ( starting out two, then became three, and now I think a couple more ) are either hoping to make a great name for themselves or don't know they are going to be stiffed. I'm sure they will be stiffed and THEY could make a great name for themselves as well --- as people to avoid if you think you have a REAL case.

Who knows why the hell Trump’s impeachment lawyers would take on his case. The Heather Cox Richardson piece mentions that these lawyers were surprised at the quality of the prosecution’s presentation. His lawyers have bought into Trump’s normalizing that no preparation necessary. Trump nornalized not knowing what you are talking about, just spew lies. Apparently, they think everyone is as erratic, unhinged, uninformed and chaotic as Trump. So glad the Dems showed them how it really works.
It’s appalling to read of the 4 Senators who chose to look at papers or doodle when the 13 minute video of the Capital insurrection was aired.
Also appalling is the Republican Senators will not vote to impeach Trump regardless of how ill prepared his lawyers are to present his case, regardless of the many valid arguments the Dems make and no matter how horrific the insurrection was. Pitiful, pitiful. They insist on sucking up to their voters. Those fqn voters.

His niece, Mary Trump, has raised the question as to whether those Senators who defend his actions are really just revealing their own true natures and the radical Repugnicans plans for governance? Were their radical rightist leanings suppressed until he provided the fodder to release them? While I am hoping her thoughts are not the way the Repugnicans are headed in the future because it will lead to another leader such as DJT, but also the end of democracy as we define it. I do think her words bear merit. Are the Rand Paul's, lackey Lindsay and the grim reaper McConnell the faces of the Repugnican party of the future. If so, we need to start prepping for the '22 elections now.
I cannot for the life of me think how any reasonable person, including the supposedly intelligent Senators, could view the tapes of the insurrection and think this is acceptable behavior. Or that we as Democrats, need to realize how those who voted for the loser are entitled to some consideration? Did they offer an olive branch when the election was stolen from Hiliary? Did we riot in the streets when we learned who had won that election only because of the electoral college?
Why are the newspapers still referring to the great orange one as the President? He is the former, and a piss poor example of that as well, president. He needs to just go away.

All great thoughts and questions Betrayal. I think it is some of both. I think some of the Reps. are stuck on the Trump way of doing things. They are greedy and was money and power and they don't always care how they get it. I too, though am hoping that having this second impeachment will help align people really well and we can find out totally who all the THEM are as opposed to us. As something I read just now said ( I think it was Mother Jones ) not only is Trump on trial but so is the Reps. party.
If they are all well identified -- then those who are not REAL patriots can be voted out and I think if that happens for two cycles in a row they will lose their standing. It is just my thoughts but I think it would be a lot clearer that the majority of the U.S. is ready for all to be much more equal and are not ready for only big corporations and greedy, power hungry people to be making the laws all the time that we live by and certainly not ready for any thing that remotely resembles a dictatorship.
In closing -- I am so proud of the House Managers and very much Jaime Raskin. Also -- the LA. Senator who voted for the impeachment. He had a change of heart and he is on the chopping block but I hope he makes it through somehow.

The insurrection on the Capital would not have taken place were it not for the words and actions of Donald Trump. What if they had killed Vice-President Pence, or Mitt Romney, or you? If what Donald Trump incited is not treason, I don't know what is. There must be accountability. If you vote to acquit him, that does not mean that he is innocent. It means that you are guilty too.

I apologize for not being able to participate in this week’s Zoom. As ruthbru mentioned, this week is craziness on steroids for this teacher! It’s my last week of full time distance track. I am also having parent/teacher conferences as we’ll be having some student movement due to some students remaining on distance learning. 18 conferences in 3 days, 4 more to go tomorrow! Meetingsevery afternoon and evening, surgery on Friday and then getting my room ready for real live kids on 2/22! Very excited for both the return of students and the surgery, but my head is spinning!

As far as Hawley, he acts like a teenager with no boundaries, no impulse control and no respect for anyone who does not agree with him. Is MO that backward of a state that he is the best they could elect (sorry if you are from MO and did not vote for him)? As far as Lindsay, I am sure John McCain is wondering how they could have ever been friends, let alone collaegues.
I do not know how anyone who professed to be an impartial juror, who took an oath to support the constitution, etc. could have already decided that the great orange one is not responsible for this debacle. We have been the laughing stock of the world for 4 years and will continue to be regarded as such when he is found not responsible. I think their behavior should be on display so their constituents can see how they are being represented.

Ruth, I’m glad you found my comments worth sharing. To me, it is simple critical thinking. Isn’t that what we were supposedly being taught in school all those years? Did Republicans miss that huge concept? Of course, if Hillary had endlessly contested her election results until an insurrection happened, the Republicans would be beating their chests, foaming at the mouth snarling “Lock her up!”

And yes, Divine, they would not have quit until she ( Hillary ) was in lock-up with an extremely long sentence. I think the Reps. are doing HUGE harm right now, but they seem incapable of correct movements since the Orange thing landed on them. I guess since we actually did see yrs. of negative behaviors fomenting on that side that we shouldn't be at all surprised at the culmination -- but still I am.
Somewhere, despite fear and some of that is normal, should be a very loud conscience screaming and I will continued to be amazed at the number of Reps. that have found a way to drown it out.
