Un-believable -- some people will say or do anything for a few points -- they don't realize how many are getting subtracted though.

My idiot governor really is doing that.

This is so sad. Glad I never seriously thought of living in Texas. I doubt it would happen since the Reps. seem to like the way they do things there, but things like this are not what should be.
His Lights Stayed on During TX Freeze. Now He Owes $16,752.

"My savings is gone," said Scott Willoughby, a 63-year-old Army veteran who lives on Social Security payments in a Dallas suburb. He said he had nearly emptied his savings account so that he would be able to pay the $16,752 electric bill charged to his credit card - 70 times what he usually pays for all of his utilities combined. For customers whose electricity prices are not fixed and are instead tied to the fluctuating wholesale price, the spikes have been astronomical.0 -
Life is a refining process. Our response to it determines whether we'll be ground down or polished up. On a piano, one person sits down and plays sonatas, while another merely bangs away at "Chopsticks." The piano is not responsible. It's how you touch the keys that makes the difference. It's how you play what life gives you that determines your joy and shine. -Barbara Johnson

I'm hoping in reality that the Reps. party is in as many tatters as seems to be indicated by many of the articles I've read. Irritating that part of the media keeps putting up opposite articles in the hopes you will keep tuning in on them. But, I do tend to think the orange thing has made the party somewhat poisoned. I'm sure a lot of people might let go but they are far too worried ( such greed ) about being able to hold onto their seats -- and some of them really do think it is the way to go.

Jackie, every meme you're posting is right on the money! Yes, pay for your own poison Koolaid, and you, too can be a Congress!
Some headlines I saw this morning: Ted Cruz took his Princeton and Harvard Law roommate with him on his Cancun trip.
Not only that, another "GOP Texas politician flew out of the state on a private jet amid the crisis. State Rep. Gary Gates, who represents District 28 in Texas's House of Representatives, fled the state with his family to Florida because some of his home flooded and because he was concerned about his family.
"Because of my wife's illness that she's had for a couple of weeks and my handicapped daughter with her area of the house being flooded, I was just trying to find some easier accommodations for them and I was trying to find a place where I could continue to work and do the things I needed to do," Gates said.'
(Are any Republican voters paying attention to this?)

Another headline: On Monday, Dominion Voting system sued Mike Lindell, MyPillow CEO and his company, seeking more than $1.3 billion in damages, alleging that the businessman had defamed the company with false accusations that it had rigged the 2020 election for Joe Biden.
(Sleep on that one, Mike).

Plus, I don't think Trumpers realize how our country is benefitting from being led by a President whose strategy is to first get control over the pandemic which will then lead to economic recovery. This is in direct opposition to Trump's idea that the economy should be rolled out and the pandemic would take care of itself. Trump's way would have led us to languishing foreverrrrr amid Covid19 and a flailing economy.
As I expected, the vaccine roll-out continues to ramp up and seems like full speed ahead now that Joe is getting his feet under him as President, so to speak. It's exciting.
The headline from the Associated Press:
Biden administration poised to dramatically ramp up coronavirus vaccinations
...the United States is on the verge of a supply breakthrough as manufacturing ramps up and with the expectation of a third vaccine becoming available in the coming weeks.
...The daily inoculation average climbed to 1.7 million shots per day last week, but as many as double that number of doses are soon expected to be available on average each day. The focus of Biden's team is now quickly shifting to ensuring those doses can get used.

Way to go Tiffany.

Hoping this same thing is about to befall a lot of the Reps.

Hope this is true and if so, thanks be to the Universe. Time for karma to have a round.

Jackie, I can confirm the story of the SC rejecting Trump's request to keep his tax records from Manhattan prosecutor is true.
Spookie, I would love to see DeSantis taken down and thrown out of office, or voted out.

Has anyone watched videos by Matthew Cooke? I've come across a few. I don't know his backstory yet, but he blasts Fox News in the following 5 minute video with this:
“Let's take a minute to conceptualize Fox News. It's not news. Their business model is inventing things that stoke the flames of culture war. Their business model is creating talking points to provide cover for the ongoing reckless dismantling of the U.S. government.
Fox's own lawyers have stated that the general tenor of their premiere talking head Tucker Carlson informs a viewer that Carlson's not stating actual facts about the topics he discusses and instead, engages in exaggeration and non-literal commentary."

Thought this clip from Doonesbury was telling:
"Trump was the only candidate ever endorsed by the Taliban, that highly respected terrorist group. Can never take that away from him."

To All: do you think we might actually see Trump finally get indicted on something? Anything? Something that will put him in an orange jump suit to go with his face?

Elderberry, I think it is possible...fingers crossed

Man I hope we get to see him charged but I am not counting on it. However, it is looking more promising with each blow dealt to him.

Spookie, it is wonderful to learn that St. Pete’s mayor and the agriculture commissioner are standing up for the right thing and not bowing down to De-inSane-tist. It makes me feel good that there are people like them in the world.
Not sure 45 will go to prison. If anything, a deal will be struck. But, miracles do happen. We’ll have to see how all this unfolds. One thing we can expect is that all damaging information revealed about 45 will be spun by Republicans into something they think is completely acceptable.

Sadly, the U.S. has reached a grim milestone. Honestly, I never thought it would get to this point:
“President Biden plans to mark the milestone of 500,000 Americans killed by the COVID-19 virus with a somber ceremony Monday evening at the White House. The First Lady, VP Harris and Emhoff will join Biden in a candle-lighting ceremony outside on the White House South Portico at sunset followed by a moment of silence. Biden is also set to deliver remarks to reflect on the tragedy beforehand."
I don't know anyone personally who's died of Covid. But my son has a sad story. He and his girlfriend moved to a rental house last July. One neighbor, an outgoing retiree in his early 60s, quickly made them feel welcome to the neighborhood, exchanging pleasantries outside during the nice weather, loaned them a couple yard tools and gifted them with fresh fruit. So it was a shock when ds learned that the man's wife died of Covid in November, and the neighbor died of Covid last month. I feel terrible about it, even though I never met the couple. Ds's girlfriend said somberly, “100% mortality from Covid in that household." She took the news hard. She struggles with her parents who voted Trump and don't follow mask or any other pandemic guidelines.

Love all the entries previous to this one. I too am not sure we will see Trump in jail which I would so very much love. Barring that though -- I would like to see him lose all of his properties and most of his money which I would want to happen whether in jail or not. I do think Vance bringing in special people has to be saying something -- like I think you know you have an excellent case if your bringing out the big guns so to speak. The piece I read talked about the fact that Vance and co., will be pouring through 8 yrs. of taxes, documents, insurance filings etc. It also talked about the fact that as it is set up -- none of us will get to see one page of Trump's taxes -- but what will be available is if Trump is indicted and charged. Those chgs. will have to have evidence displayed and that will make those portions public.
I also send up a cheer for Fla. officials ( in respective categories ) not lowering the flag for a specimen of Limbaugh's ilk. He and Trump and people like Epstein and a number of other R's are disgusting humans and the kindest thing I can say is they are good examples of everything you don't want to be and hope very few are. Sadly, it seems there are way more like those than I actually knew. Many have found their way out of the woodwork and at least in that regard we are more aware that their are some pretty dishonorable and disgusting types.
Over 500,000 souls. I would not have thought this either. I feel so fortunate to have some through so far and pray it will hold. Going in a week for second Moderna shot. I am sad for all those who did not make it through, and just as sad for their families who no longer have some of their family members alive now. It is hard ( thinking of your son's girlfriend Divine ) still for me to understand the ' Kool-Aid spell ' that Trump perpetuated. Thinking these people DON'T want Trump to be wrong and even if they see or get the information somehow they will continue to ignore, or think rigged or something else that absolves Trump and their choices made. It is sad and hard to take that the information/help/personal safety is all there -- if they would reach out and take it. Hate to say it this way -- but as to that safety, what do they have to lose. The shots are free and they could even get free masks -- and I'm sure they have soap -- so why.
