Anyone here watch Biden's incredibly heartfelt and moving address, paying tribute to not just the >half a million lost to COVID, but to their families & friends as well? The man has a heart and a soul in addition to a brain. When it comes to bereavement & pushing through the grief, he knows firsthand whereof he speaks. May we have the honor of his empathy & service for more than one term.

He has ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff through the 26th, in their honor. (Not Rush's).

Even if you disagree with Biden politically, it’s impossible to not respect the dignified and respectful tribute to those who have been lost and their grieving families. The number lost is staggering. And no narcissistic bragging or self congratulatory statements about things he had nothing to do with! How I loathed that!

Biden's remarks last night were more of the healing balm our country needs a year into the pandemic. The contrast is quite stark compared to what we were getting from former guy.

Joe started by saying every day he keeps a card in his pocket with the tally of those who've died of Covid. As he was speaking, he pulled the card out from the inside of his suit jacket breast pocket. It was a great visual. It shows he keeps this information right on his heart; that the numbers have meaning and getting the virus under control is the #1 priority. This is the behavior I want to see in my President. Surely his words and actions of last night’s ceremony meant something to those who mourn their loved ones lost to Covid.

I read an article that said due to Biden's vast political experience, he had no learning curve as he moved into the office of President of the United States. He was able to hit the ground running. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. I continue being grateful he was elected. He tunes out the Trumpy stuff and I absolutely love that. It's his subtle yet effective way of saying, that bullshit is not worth my time and energy. I very much agree with that philosophy.

I think Biden didn't win the presidency before now because 'Providence' (as George Washington would call it) knew he'd be needed for just this moment.

The best thing about this very minute is your ability to recognize the possibilities in it. Any fool can count the seeds in an apple. But only God can count the apples in a seed. There is something in every problem that holds potential for something better. Do you want a lifetime of happy right nows? The little choice this moment to see the beauty in what appears ugly, frustrating, or disgraceful will change everything. -Barbara Johnson

Ruth, I very much agree. I think there is a song or two about un-answered prayers ( I hope I'm not stretching meanings etc. ) but I do believe we get what we need not at the first sign of problems when we might be able to, with a little time and effort evaporate them ourselves, but when things start to go dark and it seems like there may not be a good answer. When we most need to be lifted up. I think that is why it is a little difficult to DULL the hope I walk around with all the time. I have a number of dark periods in life and at those times hope has come roaring back -- so yes, I am a true believer.

I would love to think Joe could have two terms because I fear there is so MUCH that needs fixing this time around. He is not afraid of the work -- but we need the considered well-rounded and highly knowledgeable president because a lot of what needs fixing is going to take time -- winning back the trust of many of our allies and re-gaining our stance in the world. I hope we are able to get back as much as possible. I also worry about the number of white nationalist and other un-savory groups that have come out.

In the meantime though -- what a wonderful world when you feel despite some differences that you are in sync pretty much with your government/president and can take your eye off the ball w/o fearing what happens when you do. Oh, how we all have needed this. Despite them saying it -- I just feel like a whole lot of Reps./Inds., are enjoying very much the same thing.

    Go Cy Vance.

Sign is hard to read, and Cruz really slipped up so anxious was he I presume. Been awhile on this though as he has no facial hair in this picture.

sign says that Texas deserves better than Cruz -- and I'd agree. If they had a whole lot les Cruz'es maybe the grid fiasco might have been avoided. Sometimes smaller government doesn't cut it.

Ruth, yes, that's the perfect word to describe the timing: “providence".

I would add that not only does Biden have the experience, but he knows the history of the U.S.A. and how it relates to the rest of the world. He respects the history of our country. The former guy spit in the face of our history, mocked it, knew pitiful little about any of it. Biden’s long-time advisors also comprehend the ways history has shaped how the pieces of our government fit and work together. It makes a huge difference. They can look back on what went right, what didn't work, how to get back on track, how to move forward. They can apply today's strategies while also drawing from tried and true ones used before. We the American people greatly benefit from that additional knowledge base Biden brings to the table.

You're right, Jackie, that much needs done in our nation, for our nation. As they say, it is quicker and easier to destroy. It takes more time to rebuild that which was damaged.

I also agree that lots of Republicans are feeling the same relief we are with having adults at the helm of our government.

I put my order in for Girl Scout cookies!

I wonder of Ted Cruz has cooked his goose, so to speak. Headlines now are claiming his wife Heidi is pissed that her texts about their Cancun trip were leaked. Doesn't sound too compassionate towards all the Texans still living in crisis while you bitch about your privacy. Ted Cruz is blaming his Democratic neighbors for leaking the texts. And he's coming under fire for photo ops of himself handing out cases of water when he got back from his trip.

I wonder if all of this will add up to his political downfall. He's not up for reelection until 2024, so we'll have to see how long Texas voters' memories are.

Ego could be defined as whatever covers up basic goodness. From an experiential point of view, what is ego covering up? It's covering up our experience of just being here, just fully being where we are, so that we can relate with the immediacy of our experience. Egolessness is a state of mind that has complete confidence in the sacredness of the world. It is unconditional well being, unconditional joy that includes all the different qualities of our experience.

On tv this morning it opined that why would Wisc. continue to put up with Ron Johnson. I'd like to think they wouldn't but the Reps. party has been and is off the rails and to me seems to be going backward. So, Ron -- may be it is a lucky guess and I'm sorry you can't seem to guess very well because you look just a tad insane from where I'm standing.

I hope Divine that Ted Cruz is a goner now. Beto O'Rourke and AOC have done an amazing job of things. Cruz seems to have the same disease to an extent that many of the government Trumpers fell ill too. They seem to think they can defiantly do as they wish now and be viewed in the same light as Trump. There is only ONE Trump and a lo of the Reps. are trying to hide from what REALLY happened to him. He is not a minor, but a MAJOR loser and that seems highly likely to remain and in fact be well enhanced by all the trouble he will be in now.

I question ( yes there are plenty of voters or were ) just how much damage would accrue if all these yo-yo's took a REAL stand and give Trump the total kiss-off he has so well earned. I don't see them doing themselves any real good. I think I listened ( not sure which channel ) to a program that said that we likely will never know how many votes didn't get through the postal service etc. So, Biden could have had a fair amt. more than he did and the final tally was quite remarkable with popular votes as well as EC. Of course, some of the Trump votes went that way as well -- but it is obvious that Biden was clearly going to come out ahead.

I'm sorta wondering what Texas and others will think as proceedings -- criminal and civil get under way on Trump. Nothing will be fast enough to suit me, but I do hope they are fast enough to keep Trump mainly out of any limelight that might be around. The only news of him I care to hear have to do with indictments.

Lastly, you are right Ruth. Ms. Cruz I think did get some sympathy some time back but seems she has earned her 'own' scorn now. Well, I guess I understand that Sen. Cruz's sense of entitlement could rub off on his wife. I think I read a piece in a that she is still employed by Goldman Sachs. Nothing to do with anything we are discussing of her character -- I just mention it in passing, as in how nice to have great incomes so you can flee your negative weather or other circumstances while others have to huddle under a blanket and shake and hope they make it.

As to the above memes -- most are just the things that we are going to have to keep putting up with in particular where Reps. car concerned. Makes it all the nicer to have a sane person in the Whit House. Thank you President Biden.

One of the smaller ( but oh so very large things ) things I am grateful for is the fact that I can now write out ( in places like this or Facebook or wherever ) the name of my President , fully accepting him as MY president and knowing I do not have to feel any embarrassment that I am a citizen of the U.S. Some small things are so very precious.

With Cruz using such poor judgement to fly to Cancun during the Texas crisis, will Texas voters question what other poor choices Cruz is capable of making and that they might not want him to continue representing their state when he's up for reelection? Time will tell.

I see a few people on FB claiming Texas is a more purple state than red one these days due to gerrymandering clouding things up and making it harder to see. I cannot say if there's truth to any of that but I'll be observing to see if itpans out.
