    Hurricane Ian coming ashore now! It is 2 miles shy of a Cat 5 ,and, according to media, possibly the strongest hurricane ever to hit the U.S.!

    My daughter's live in boyfriend's parents are in Fort Myers, bull's eye in the path of Ian. They have not, as yet, evacuated their house. I think it may be too late now. Sad

    If you're wondering when you should give to or serve someone else,

    I believe in doing it spontaneously, perhaps in a shared moment of

    emotion. Or any time you feel like someone needs your support.

    Whether you do it all the time, occasionally, or when the opportunity

    arises, just do it. Reach out and give of yourself and your time.

    I have seen, time and again, that happiness and enjoyment arise from

    being of service in simple ways.

    Watching the weather channel. I have an aunt and uncle in Naples and am wondering if they've evacuated or stayed put. Not close with them, so I've contacted one of my other aunts to check in. Hope those of you in Florida are safe.

    Ian is now a Cat 5! DD's boyfriend is freaking out for his parents. They sent him a pic of his dad hunkering down in a hallway with pillows and blankets. I don't know how much that can help one against an 18 foot storm surge. Prayers for all in the path of this monster!

    For me, next to Clearwater, it’s been a grey, rainy, slightly windier than usual day. For once the power has stayed on. South of me, Sarasota and south is getting hammered. I feel bad for them. DuhSantis and Biden have all kinds of resources and help, staged and ready to go as soon as it’s safe. Meaning the wind dies down, roads cleared and water receded.

    Biden probably will visit the area soon, bet he WONT throw paper towels at people like the orange thing did in Purto Ric

    Glad to hear you're okay, spookiesmom. From what I've been hearing it's the storm surge that can really be dangerous. Hope that passes you by as well.

    Thinking of all of our FL members. Naples looks like it took a big hit. I hav3 my best friend and several cousins in FL but they are in the Boynton Beach area. Stay safe!

    DD boyfriend's parents seem to safe for now in Ft. Myers. House not flooded. So glad you are safe and well Spookie!

    I’m keeping Spookie, Pupmom, and everyone on the thread who know someone in the path of the storm in my thoughts and hope everyone’s been able to remain safe and out of harm’s way. I cannot imagine going through such devastation. Daily life completely upended and after the hurricane passes. things never really return to the way it was before. I feel for everyone who is impacted.

    Un-imaginable is the word that comes to my mind. How frightening it must be and have been for people who could not leave. Not that it would be a great comfort, but I will coninue hopeful thoughts and prayer that people who need it so much get help as quickly as it can come.

    Possibly the only good thing to come from this storm, and I admit it’s nasty of me to think it is:

    Rick Scott has/had ocean front mansion in Naples. Hope it’s in Mexico now. Too bad he wasn’t in it.
