exbrnxgrl, I sooooo missed that. Glad you saw it. Once I knew what the meme said I stopped really seeing each word/name clearly and on its own. I am guilty of skimming when I really know what is likely to be said.
I myself love the religious definition. I stopped going to Churches long ago, but I am happy for others who still find it something they feel they want to have. My church is in my heart and in the woods and lakes and animals. Nature and the animal world inspire me to care about right and wrong — so I admire my friends who go 'religiously' to church often, but I just never found that a building with lots of people could take the place of nature. Good for them and I hope they are able to say the same of me.

SEXUAL BATTERY: The lawsuit against Matt Schlapp just got MUCH bigger

An amended sexual battery and defamation lawsuit against CPAC claims that other executives at CPAC have known of past assertions of sexual misconduct by CPAC director Matt Schlapp but did nothing to stop or even investigate the matter, never mind remove Schlapp
This allegation, if true makes the lawsuit such that it could bring down the entire organization. If others join and prove that the American Conservative Union (“ACU”), which controls CPAC, had known of Matt Schlapp’s criminal habit of sexually assaulting young men, CPAC would lose a lot of the money that feeds the monster on the far right.
The Washington Post describes the allegations of previous misconduct, heretofore unreported:
“In one alleged incident, during a fundraising trip to South Florida in early 2022, Schlapp was accused of stripping to his underwear and rubbing against another person without his consent, according to the filing. In 2017, at a CPAC after-party, Schlapp attempted to kiss an employee against his wishes.”
Who would’ve known that CPAC had “after-parties” other than everyone who sees through this ridiculous front? CPAC has at least a decade on Trump in being the grift machine of the Right.
The conservative “morals” are just a front for greater wealth and power for those on top. And no one was above Schlapp in the ACU organization.
Apparently these after parties included Rock Stars like Matt Schlapp, who doesn’t fear being rejected in front of others while forcing himself on someone else, males or females, even in a nearly-criminal assault.
This is not to be read as stating that the first lawsuit had no effect.
No, only that the amended lawsuit puts further pressure on the ACU, a standard-bearer of the conservative movement — one that has already seen the departure of board members, staffers and corporate sponsors all due to fear of the ramifications of Schapp’s leadership and financial stewardship.
Schlapp and the ACU have not responded to the amended complaint in court yet.
The ACU is likely trying to settle the matter without having to acknowledge misconduct but that easy settlement would seen to be off the table as the victims’ attorneys have pushed forward with more discovery,,
