Waiting on skull biopsy results
I was diagnosed with IDC (er+/pr+/her2+) and ILC 13 years ago next month. About 6 months ago I began having daily headaches which became increasingly unbearable. My primary care doctor referred me to neurology and my oncologist recommended I see neurosurgeon- they subsequently did a brain and head MRI and found a 1CM T2 hyperintense ildefined lesion in the frontal calvarial skull bone. The recommendation was to wait 3 months, and rescan in August, which we did. The lesion was still there and so last Friday (9/17/2021) I had an excisional bone flap biopsy (craniectomy) with titanium plate - the bone sample was about the size of a quarter so that margins were taken on all sides of the lesion. This was done with computerized MRI mapping. My surgeon said results would take 2-3 weeks because bone biopsies are processed differently than soft tissues. The wait is harder this time because, well, I know what a positive result would mean and it's really weighing on me. Has anyone else been through this same type of thing?

KorynH, I don't have any words of wisdom for you, but I wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through this--13 years after your original diagnosis, fer cryin out loud. Not fair. Hang in there and find something fun to distract yourself until the results are available.
