Headaches

Options
Hi friends need a suggestion. I have been having constant headache for last two weeks or so. I got anxious and went to urgent care and got cat scan done. It came back clear but the headache still is there and I get nausea in the evenings.

Headaches can have so many causes. If urgent care didn't come up with anything, the next starting point might be with your family care doc. They might have ideas to try, or might be able to recommend specialists. Anything that is interfering with your quality of life deserves to be checked out and treated, whether it's cancer related/emergency or not.

Salamandra thank you. The ct scan was clear but the headaches are there almost everyday. I called my oncologist and she said to follow with primary. Will see what the family doctor will say. Will see if they agree on Mr

Headaches can manifest for so many reasons. It is wonderful the CT scan was clear. Have you recently had a covid vaccine? tension? allergies? new meds? need eye exam/new glasses? Any dental work? New pillows? Migraines? Sleep funny? Withdrawal from coffee? Have you had your blood pressure checked? (they say most people have no symptoms but my sister had horrible headaches for months until they treated her for hypertension; then they disappeared).

Flo, I have read both your recent threads, and I see you have or had face pain or tingling, nausea, headache, drowsiness, memory problems, and shakiness. I think I would get evaluated by the PCP, including asking if the your various meds could cause these things. I would also get back in touch with the oncologist and make sure he has the complete list of issues you have experienced since July, and ask whether an MRI of the head should be ordered, especially since you had Her2 positive bc (as I deduce from your saying you are on herceptin.) I know the urgent care did a CT scan, but I believe the MRI is the standard scan for this situation.

    Hi Shetland,

Thank you so much for your reply. Most of those symptoms have resolved. The chemo brain is getting better too. I had my eyes tested so got glasses. Now these headaches are a concern . I have an appointment with my primary and will explain and try to get an MRI too.

    Thank you so much

    Flor

    Hello All,

I have a question for you all. I pray that there is others who have had this experience and it turned out to be a simple issue. A little history which is not in my bio. I had a brain MRI in April 2021 for dizziness. It was clear and appeared to be the Anastrozole. Well moving forward last month October 15ish or so I started having head pain. It was on one side, left temple for about a day. It was all day just intermittently. Then it switched to the other side as well as behind my eyes and nose cavity I could also feel pain/uncomfortable feeling in my teeth and jaw. I thought sinuses or something related, but my nose was as clear as a bell. A bit runny for only minutes when awakening or eating spicy food lol 😂. Well this head pain has persisted up until today. I mentioned at my follow up with MO and he said I was stressed about having had a prophylactic mastectomy and was awaiting the pathology.

Pathology was a good report. Amen

Pain relievers only seem to help minimally and by evening/night it's a bit worse.

I was on Tamoxifen in 2017 for 6 months after completing active treatment and then switched to AI after menopause. I have had many SE's, the usual and some not so usual since being on AI. Joint pain, hair loss, dry skin, tinnitus, back and hip pain, and trigger finger to name a few. If anyone has any ideas or similar situation I would really like to hear.

    Sincerely,

    Humblepeace

Hi everyone. Sorry for my bad English but I am using an online translator. I have very bad headaches very often, and also dizziness and a lot of the things said here. I also had a clean brain scan too. Check your cervical spine and especially your liver function ... both things produce almost all the effects described here. Good luck!

    Hi All,

I had a clean ct scan too. But please get it checked from your doctor as there can be other reasons too.

I pray that we all live a healthy life.

    Regards

    Fl

Wow your posts do give me hope! I had SMX 6 years ago, them chemo, five years on Tamoxifen, and Letrozole since last October. November I started getting more constant headaches, gradually getting worse. January I got to see my oncologist, and now waiting to get a CT scan in three weeks. I am also dizzy, have trouble sleeping (duh), and I’m super tired. Seems like it still could be nothing, or more likely Letrozole side effects. This waiting and anxiety is unbearable though, one moment I’m all like it’s nothing, I’ll live forever, and the next moment I’m positive I’ll die any day now.

Humblepeace, maybe if you haven’t found a solution yet, you’ll be interested in this. So I went to a dentist, and long story short, I’ve been avoiding biting on the left side, and overusing the right, which according to the dentist might be a reason also for headaches in the right temple. Fast forward a few days… I went for a massage because I think maybe all the stress causes it partly. The massage therapist said my jaw muscles on the right were very tense, and that this often causes headache in the temple, tinnitus, even balance problems. After the massage a couple days ago, I had first a massive headache (stress migraine?) and then a full 24 hours with no headache, less dizziness, less ringing in ears! I am super hopeful that this is the root cause for my symptoms.
