In July 2024, my right breast was removed and the cancer with it. In sept. 2024 I began tamoxifen. My hair is falling out, hot flashes are intensifying and they tell me the constipation(first time in my life) is not caused by this drug. The doctor offered additional medication for the hot flashes.

After a hard look at these side effects, which at this time are not debilitating but inconvenient and ugly, I have decided to use my mindfulness practice to work with these side effects .

Mark Williams who wrote Deep Mindfulness describes the feeling tones of pleasant, unpleasant and neither. I have begun pausing and noting the sensations of the hot flash or the constipation as pleasant, unpleasant or neither. Also using the words coming and going to take in the impermanence of it all.

Is anyone using mindfulness as part of their care?
