Medication to diminish/remove distress

Hi, I am not searching the answer to my query which may be somewhere here - forgive me, my eyesight is not good for it.

what is the most correct one to use -please note that my distress is coming from progressive loss of hearing ,limitations on movement, progressive loss of vision ,speech, eating, drinking, body not reacting right to pressure of being mostly in bed etc (leptomeningeal lesions in brain).

Tried diazepam at lowest dosage- does not seem to move distress but adds confusion and fuziness i.e. no improvement imo.

People say about antidepressants - would they be helpful if iam not depressed but reacting normally to a very challenging setting of circumstances? Necessity using them for weeks before the effect becomes apparent puts me off - I will not feel ANY effect for ages and then the effect may be not to liking at all.
