Pulsatile tinnitus

Hello!

Anyone experienced issues with hearing your heartbeat in your ears or pulsatile tinnitus? I’m 4 years post chemo & radiation & on tamoxifen. Curious if any connection to past treatments or tamoxifen.

I don't know a lot about this, but I experience this from time to time; most recently a couple of mornings ago, when I noticed it in the middle of the night and just after waking up. I usually sleep on my back, but did a rare side sleep, and it was the side I slept on that had the ear problem. I've had it occasionally before too in one or both ears at a time. I haven't asked a dr about it, but from what I read online, it can be anything from benign to serious. I did read that low estrogen (I've taken letrozole and now am on Faslodex), can be a cause, and I assume a relatively benign one. So far, I consider my issue more annoying than serious. In my case, I'm pretty sure it's a low-estrogen side effect from the Faslodex shots that I got about a week ago. Hope this is of some help at least and hopefully others more knowledgeable will come along.

I had pulsatile tinnitus in one ear a couple of years ago. My PCP could hear it with her stethoscope. There are many possible reasons, a few due to blood vessel or bone structure abnormalities, but often there are more easily fixable causes. I was a bit anemic and my blood pressure was still a bit high despite taking two different meds. Taking more iron to get my RBC count over 4.2 and adding magnesium which lowered my diastolic BP to about 80 eliminated it. Tamoxifen can cause both anemia and high blood pressure so it could be a factor. It’s really annoying so I’m glad mine is gone as much as I hate the iron SEs. I hope you can find something that helps yours.

It comes and goes for me since I started this whole ordeal, and I have no idea why. Quite scary when it first started, but it doesn't go on for too long. I've had months now without it.

Tougholdcrow - Sounds similar to my situation. I do think it is a low estrogen thing that comes and goes. Tamoxifen, Letrozole, and Faslodex, along with all the other anti-estrogen drugs can do this.
