Abnormal lymph node above collarbone
Hello all
I initially was treated for stage 2 ILC in 2010 and have been attending followup scans and doctor visits once or more times each year since then. I have also been taking Letrozole faithfully up until a month or two ago when I started to become lazy about taking it.
Today, I had my annual breast imaging and my radiologist informed me that there was an unusual finding, being one atypical lymph node on the left side of my chest, in the supraclavicular area I think.
I don't yet have a copy of the report providing further details. I should have that in the next 24 - 48 hours.
My radiologist is very experienced and thorough and has been looking after me cancer-wise since before my original diagnosis. She is now proposing to defer any further action for four months, at which time another ultrasound is proposed and, if indicated, a biopsy at that time. The radiologist asked me whether I had had any recent exposure to anything that could cause benign inflammation but I haven't.
I have been researching this on line today and, from my reading, am concerned about the prospect of a BC recurrence or even a different type of cancer.
I will be seeing my GP tomorrow and my BS the following day.
In the meantime, my question is whether anyone here has had a similar situation and the diagnosis was not cancer?

Hi Racy,
Yes, it well could be that a lymph node is enlarged because of inflammation and in this case it will resolve by itself with time. Did your radiologist explain why she considered it likely to be benign? How large is the node?
I think it is great that you are checking with your GP and, especially, BS.
I would also say… listen to your gut. if you feel that something is not right, insist on further testing and biopsy.0
