Breast Tissue Changes after Weight Loss

in Not Diagnosed With a Recurrence or Metastases but Concerned

Hi all

I had IDC nine years ago and last year I lost 55 pounds. I went for my annual mammogram/ ultrasound and then had to have a biopsy for a distorted area ( no lump or mass visible on the ultrasound or mammogram, nothing palpable. It came back negative and now they want an MRI done to be sure. Obviously I am a wreck. I am wondering if weight loss can cause breast changes on these tests?

    Hi @marietherese , I'm sorry that you have the stress of waiting for an MRI to be done. Weight loss can cause changes to breast tissue as can aging. I'm glad that the biopsy was negative. Hopefully the MRI will confirm this and put your worry to rest. All the best.
