7 yrs after lumpectomy

I finished br treatment in 2017 and my oncologist moved away so I haven't been to a cancer Dr since.

I have had regular mammos, that have all been normal.

Now, 7 years later, my left breast is considerably bigger 42 DDD than the rt, and I have been having terrible lower back pain on left side. I'm thinking that I should get surgery to even them out. ( plus, without a bra, they look ridiculous!)

I have 2 questions, 1st, should I get with a new Oncologist to discuss surgery? And, will the surgery be covered by insurance since I was a cancer patient?

Thanks in advance!!

@jodes001, Most health insurances cover surgery for symmetry after bc surgery and there usually is no time limit. There are some exceptions depending on the insurance provider so it would be best to check first. If the weight of your left breast is causing back pain insurance will generally pay for a reduction. Plastic surgeons often have someone on staff who will take care of the insurance pre approval for you.

I don’t think you would need a new oncologist. Your plastic surgeon would probably want to look at your records from the first surgery, however.

I hope this all goes smoothly and you are happy with the results.
