The wait for the biopsy is on

I am a walking mess. I had MOHS surgery for skin cancer on my nose in 2012, it came back, and I am waiting for surgery on that on December 19. I scheduled my mammogram /ultrasound prior to the surgery and guess what - a lump, round mass, whatever we call it in the same breast I had DCIS in 2008 (had 2 lumpectomies and radiation). Waiting for a biopsy now. Doc says 50/50 chance it is cancer. If it is cancer, I am looking at mastectomy on that side. I had my last mammogram in late Oct 2023 so was only a month out. How does a body heal from facial surgery and mastectomy in the same few months? My husband is in remission from lymphoma, and we are caretakers for his mother who is almost 90.

Hi @traveler56, You have a lot on your plate right now. Hopefully you won’t have to deal with back-to-back surgeries but people who are in accidents with multiple injuries manage to heal from simultaneous procedures. If it comes to pass you may need to ask for help from family/friends or hire temporary help for your husband’s mother. In my experience you manage to figure out a solution when the problem becomes real.

I hope the biopsy is benign and your facial surgery goes well. All the best.

I love you! You brought me back to reality, that is correct - think of the veterans and what they go through. Ultrasound showed a spiculated mass - 1.2 X .2 X.7 cm. BIRADS 5. So looking not so good, and preparing myself for the mastectomy. Surgeon thought it ok to wait a month or so. Bathroom is starting today so hoping that goes well, and I have a nice new shower! I have a lovely tub……
