Scared!

Hello all!

Scared!! Found a lump the other day in my 12-year post diagnosis breast. I had DMX, followed by chemo, bilateral reconstruction, a fat graft transfer and 10 years of anastrazole. At the time, I was stage 2 grade 1 and no LVI.

I saw my primary today and was referred to our local breast cancer center, but I can't get in for two more weeks. The waiting is going to be miserable.

Has anyone else experienced something like this so far out?

I have not had your experience but wanted to let you know that the wait, though stressful, will not have a negative effect on your health. Breast cancer is relatively slow growing and not considered an emergency (like a stroke or heart attack). Take care

  • I am so very sorry you found this and still have to wait two weeks. Two days ago I found a hard lump in my never affected left breast. Tomorrow is the ultrasound. I am praying for you!

Sending hugs, @georgiaredskin, and hoping for benign results! Keep us posted with what you find out!

@annibell like you I had DMX but did immediate DIEP recon (2020) plus fat grafting twice afterwards like 1 year after then again 6 months after that. I got lumps twice - first lump late 2021, had mammo and sono on it, it dissolved within a year. Second time was in other recon breast in late 2023 so 2 1/2 years after any grafting. Had full diagnostic mammo and sono of both recon breasts just to be safe after it had been there without changing for 6 months - no issues, just a stubborn fat necrosis that still hasn’t gone away and may just stick around indefinitely. Hopefully yours is likewise necrosis since that can happen more as the graft site gets older and we age in general as I understand it.
