23 Years of Stage 4!

Today is the first day of my 23rd year after being diagnosed with Stage 4 MBC de novo. The past few years have been very challenging since my body has been protesting against so much chemo, but I am doing my best to hang in here.

Sending love to all of you!

Denise

    Thanks to all!

@cookie54 I miss you on whatever site you used to be on- lol. I get confused. Are you still on Xeloda? I am at 7 years.

Yes I am very active of Husband,Life Family on here, wonderful group! I do follow along on Xeloda and TNBC etc.

I have been on X for 2 years in July and so far it's been holding me pretty stable. Fingers crossed next scan in January they have been watching a new bone lesion that popped up 6 mos ago. But I am hoping to ride the X wave for a loooong time!

  • Oh congratulations, Denise!!! This is so inspiring to read :)

@cookie54 Nice to meet you. I was thinking of another Cookie who had been on Xeloda for several years. I think that she is now off Xeloda and on to something else.

    Best of luck!

  • @denny123 , WOW! Congratulations, this is an amazing milestone!

Hi Denise, congratulations on marking 23 years as a mBC trooper! I really needed to hear this today. thank you for sharing your story. So many posters stop updating once they reach stability, but you’ve continued to share your journey and your good news, which is so encouraging. I also appreciate all the tips you’ve shared about Xeloda, I’ve made notes of them to keep in mind ❤️

  • @denny123 So happy for you! I am just starting this MBC journey. Hope to emulate your longevity.

    Best,

    Pam

Today I start year two of stage 4 with local advanced disease. Feeling great, treatments going well, and NED last scans. We give each other hope. We can do this, together.

@Denny123 I am curious: have you met many others similar to yourself long-term with stage 4 and what does your oncologist think of your long-term status?

No, I have not met anyone with my longevity. But I have read online about a few ladies with long-tern bone mets. There was a patient at my chemo center who had survived as long as I had (with bone mets). But she has passed.

My onc and I are like best-buddies now and he is proud that he has kept me around this long.

@denny123 that's incredible. Congratulations! And @cookie54 may that wave roll on for you as long as you wish.

I'm going on 6 years after the MBC dx. Last year, a miracle experience with Tamoxifen stopped after I briefly took a break from the side effects - a wrong decision for my body. A switch to Letrozole had kept the growth almost in check, but not for the last two weeks. C'est la vie maintenant. Thanks to all !
