Cancer research

Good evening, everyone. I’m trying to keep this post focused on research and away from politics. Any one else concerned about the pause in cancer research? I’m doing ok now (knock on wood) but I’m concerned that the next great thing isn’t going to be available when we need it. Anyone feeling the same?

  • Yes I am, and so is my oncologist. My sense is that the medical researchers are worried, but waiting to see how this all shakes out. I am wondering if there is anything we can do as a community to make our worries known and to influence policy.

I've written to my senators and district representatives, disclosing my MBC diagnosis, and urging them to fight to protect the NIH, which significantly funds clinical trials.

As I said in another post here, cancer doesn't care who anyone voted for. It saddens me that medicine and science have become political.

@finallyoverit Have you seen our reporting on the new executive orders? There's a section at the end with calls to action you can do to help.

    Sending hugs!

@moderators Thank you! I haven’t been very active on the boards the last couple of years. I will take a look.

I’m grateful that Ibrance has been my wonder drug and my MO told me there are many more we can try if Ibrance stops working. That does give me comfort, but I’m concerned for my fellow MBCers. We desperately need the research to continue.
