Advice for caregiver

Hi all
My partner is scheduled for single mastectomy and implant next week. Looking for advice-tips on what type of things I can expect, what can I do to prepare for after surgery and what I can do to help her though the recovery period?

I had a single mastectomy but no reconstruction. Because of only having a single-it was just the one arm that I couldn’t raise above my shoulder- the other arm I could. I ordered some bath wipes off of Amazon and used those the first several days after surgery instead of trying to negotiate showering & drains. Having a couple sweatshirts or sweaters with pockets to put the drains in worked well. Button front pajamas. Extra pillows. The first several nights I sleep part of night in my bed & part in recliner.
You can’t lift anything for awhile- so help with laundry is needed, grocery shopping, vacuuming, lifting pots or larger pans. Help washing hair. Some friends brought dinner for me & my family for the first several days, which was so helpful.
Overall my recovery went much better and faster than I expected 😀 Hopefully your partners will too.

Hi again @hotch — we're just checking in to see how your partner's surgery went and how the recovery is going? Anything else we can help with right now?
Thinking of you both!
