Breast Implant issues

Hello. I’m 55 and on January 31st of this year I was diagnosed with Grade 1/Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. I had a bilateral mastectomy on March 12th with expanders put in. Thankfully, my lymph nodes were clear and my ONCO test came back at a low risk for recurrence so I don’t have to do chemo or radiation. I had to have my drains in for three weeks following my surgery due to bleeding on the right side that required another surgery within hours following my first surgery. The cancer was discovered in my left breast. After my last fill two weeks ago, the temporary implants seemed much harder than the first fill and Saturday morning I woke up with my right breast swollen and red. I sent pictures to my doctor’s nurse that had been taking care of me since my surgery. He asked if I was running a fever and I told him I wasn’t. He called in two different antibiotics and checked back with me on Sunday. As of today, there hasn’t been any improvement and I go in to see him tomorrow. Have any of you experienced anything like this? My breast is much larger than the left. The left one seems fine but the right is swollen and red and feels weird and it also feels like things are tugging and shifting. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Good afternoon and thank you very much for checking in. I had an infection around the extender and had surgery on Thursday to remove it. I’ll have to wait 6 - 8 weeks to heal before they try and put a new one in and start all over again. I’m not clear yet as to what the infection was or how it got there but still waiting on the lab results for that. It’s just frustrating having to go back to dealing with another drain and binder! But I’m glad I’m okay and hope I’ll do better with the new one. Thank you again for checking in with me. It means a lot to have this support!
