Frankly I am shocked.

Like this was NOT my plan ever.

Wtf. tomorrow i meet with the surgeon. One is HER-2 and other is DCIS.
And maybe they’ll

be more news. Who knows. I

feel

like

i am

just shutting down and where is the fight i have heard about?

Shouldn’t i be ready to

fight. I

want to

die.And quit. and just go

away. if i get any judgement on this post i am. never coming back.

No judgment. I did the same thing at first- completely shut down. You didn't plan for this, you didn't consent to this, and you are scared and angry. I get it. You don't have to be a "warrior" or "fighter" or anything like that if that imagery is not for you. All you have to do is show up. Go to your appointments, follow your treatment plan, just keep going. Eventually you will start to process what is happening to you and realize that you can, in fact, do this.

    Big hugs to you.

    Hi @lifesgood -

Welcome to the club no one wants to join. We are sorry that you have to join us, but glad you have found us. You will likely find NO judgement here. We've all been there. It's HARD, but you WILL get through it.

The diagnosis is one of the most difficult parts. We are all in shock when it happens. It's supposed to be something that happens to 'someone else', until it is you. As you learn more about your diagnosis and you develop a plan with your dr, it likely will get a bit better. Getting your head around the whole thing is one of the toughest parts.

We are here for you. As you learn more about your diagnosis and plan, post the details here and ask us your questions. You are also ALWAYS free to vent to your heart's content. We 'get' it.

    Take Care.

@lifeisgood Totally relate, I just felt completely shocked and shut down when I was diagnosed. And I hate the “warrior”, “battle” type language. I didn’t enlist in this for f sake. It absolutely sucks and I hope you have loving people that can lend support in your life. I did find good recovery advice and supportive folks on this site as well. Best wishes for as easy a time with this crap as possible.

Hi I’m newly diagnosed with DCIS I saw the breast surgeon a couple of days ago She wants to Take both of my Breast I’m so confused and overwhelmed. If the diagnoses is non invasive why not a Lumpectomy? I have had so many appts mammo breast us biopsy breast MRIs I have another biopsy next week and an appt with the oncologist. I don’t know if I can do this I’m so exhausted.

Hi @trish25, I’m sorry that the surgery you would prefer is not recommended. Sometimes DCIS is spread out so a lumpectomy will not give a good cosmetic result. Ask the surgeon to explain why she recommends a double mastectomy. If you question the explanation you can always get a second opinion from another surgeon. Figuring out the treatment is exhausting but once there is a plan in place it gets easier. All the best.
