tamoxifen and hair loss
Hello,
I am over 65 & was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug 2024, followed by a mastectomy, removal of 9 lymph nodes, radiation & hormone therapy. Even though I am post-menopause I was given Tamoxifen for hormone therapy because of my severe osteoporosis. 4 months into using Tamoxifen I find my hair is thinning rapidly, with bald spots. My dermatologist recommended 5% Rogaine. I saw another post on this site from someone who had used Rogaine & had a positive experience. I am wondering if anyone else has tried it? I am thinking of starting out with 2% solution and seeing how that goes. Thanks everyone!

All my friends who've used Rogaine have had good results—but note that it must be taken indefinitely. Discontinuing it sends the hair follicles back into the telogen (resting) rather than anagen & catagen (growing) phases, and hair loss resumes (including those hairs grown by taking Rogaine). Even the OTC strength is still a lifetime "maintenance med," just like insulin, antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants and even GLP-1 injections,
