Honoring Beckie Child

We are deeply saddened to share that Beckie Child has passed away.
Although her breast cancer remained in full remission, her metastatic colon cancer progressed. Beckie was an extraordinary member of our community—always offering thoughtful support, sharing her knowledge generously, and uplifting others through every stage of treatment and beyond.

She was a passionate advocate, an inspiring educator, and a truly remarkable person. Her warmth, wisdom, and genuine care touched so many lives here.

We are profoundly grateful for all that she gave to this community. Her spirit and compassion will continue to guide and inspire us.

Here is a place to honor Beckie and share your memories with our community.

Becky showed up through all her treatments. She was honest and shared so much of her journey. Dang that colon cancer, she was willing to take any treatment options. Any. Hearing her talk about her conversations with the medical teams, letting them know she was here for the cure. No hair, short hair, bodily functions. Becky was honest.

I loved hearing the friends she had to support her. The fact she could not return to teaching reminded all of us of the loss cancer may bring to us. Losing those things we love. The life we had before.

I miss seeing her every week. Zoom opened the doors to people like us walking these cancer journeys. The ability to share our feelings was a blessing. To hear and support others is a treasure.

Becky is joined by my friend Bonnie. Her pancreatic cancer diagnosis 6 years ago that metastasis finally took her. Like Becky, she never gave up. Keep talking in heaven Becky.
