    Hi @zohra

There is no 'best' option for reconstruction. You will get varying opinions because it is different for each person. "Best" for some means shortest surgery. "Best" for others means using their own tissue even with a longer surgery and more difficult recovery. "Best" for others is staying flat and not dealing with recon.

Have you made an appointment to talk to a plastic surgeon? That is most important if you are considering reconstruction as they can discuss the options with you as depending on your body, the options may vary. They can also help you decide if recon can/should be done at initial surgery or not. It does require more scheduling coordination as you need to have both the surgeon and plastic surgeon available.

You also have the option of doing the surgery now and deciding if you want recon later. If you think this is what you would want, discuss it with your surgeon prior to doing the surgery as they may do a skin-sparing mastectomy if you are considering recon later.

Sorry that there are lots of decisions. It is one of the hardest parts of dx. I think in the end, it is best to try and listen to your gut, make your decision and go with it. There is no RIGHT decision. The decision YOU make is the RIGHT one for you.

    Best of luck.
