Modification after Aesthetic Flat Closure
I had a bilateral mastectomy in August 2025. Now I have extra skin on each side, under the arm area. One side is worse than the other. My plastic surgeon can excise the skin on one side in the office with a local anesthesia but doing both side would require an OR procedure. I am very overwhelmed with all of this. Didn't think I would be facing more surgery or decision making. Wondering if anyone has had this issue after AFC?

I had small "dog ears" (extra skin) on both sides after my AFC. The surgeon told me they might be permanent but his NP said she thought they would eventually go away. She was right, but it was several months. If they had not gone away I would not have hesitated to have revision surgery.

maggiehopley, thank you so much for responding! That gives me some hope. It amazes me how much the area has changed over the last couple of months- the right side had no extra skin at that time and now it has formed. Perhaps it will go away.
