Hormone blockers
I am supposed to start an aromatase inhibitor. I am 72 yo and am concerned about the joint pain and damage to bone density. I have been reading about the supplements DIM and CDG as an alternative and I wondered if anyone is using either or both of these and what is your experience?

Hi peng,
No experience to add but want to follow this. I'm interested as well. I will ask my new oncologist for any insight when/or if they ever get in touch with me

Memorial Sloan Kettering has a website and is a reliable source for information about herbs and supplements relevant to cancer.
Search for Diindolylmethane and Calcium Glucarate.

I just put these supplements into Chat GPT as I cannot tolerate AI drugs or Tamoxifen and am looking for something to help me keep cancer at bay. I am triple positive and these would be a definite no go for me as they do or could impact estrogen/receptors/cell or tumor growth.

It’s good to check before taking anything. Some of us (including me) have decided the percentage increase in recurrence risk is not worth it given our other medical conditions. Find out what your recurrence risk is with and without estrogen blockers to help you decide. Every time I see an onc I am asked about it but my first MO put my reasons for skipping AIs/Tam in my medical record so I refer them to that date of notes.
