Cold Capping

Hello, has anyone tried cold capping? I will be getting chemo and will be receiving ddAC-T. The side effect is hair loss from two of the drugs. I was offered cold capping. I am estimated to save possibly 49% of my hair with cold capping.

Has anyone done cold capping?

    Hi @runningwith2cats -

I tried to attach the Cold Caps thread, but couldn't get it to work.

    It's called:

Cold Caps Users Past and Present, to Save Hair

If you search on Paxman (one of the cold cap vendors), you will find it in the list.

There is a lot of information for you in this thread.

    Good luck with your journey.

    Take Care.

I did cold-capping with Dignicap, when I'd had dose-dense AC/T back in 2021. I was able to save about half my hair… but it had thinned out considerably on my crown by the time I was done with my last treatment. I wasn't great as a cold-capping patient - I couldn't stand how cold and headachey I felt, so took frequent breaks to use the restroom (any excuse I could get to disconnect from the coldcap machine!), and i'd begged the nurses to make the temperature less frigid. I suspect I could've kept more hair if I were more compliant. The remaining hair I had got really dry from the chemo, so after treatment was all done, I ended up trimming it all anyway into much shorter layers to help with my hair health. I had a friend who did Penguin cold-capping while on TC, and she had fabulous results - no detectable hair loss at all!
