Just scared
Hello all.
I haven't posted in quite a while.
In October 2025 I celebrated my 5 year cancerversary. On May 1,, 2026 I was in the ER for a completely different reason, and had a CT scan with contrast of my thorax. The results from the radiologist took longer than the ER docs expected. When they came back in to talk discharge, they sat down and told me that they are so sorry, but that 2 abnormal enlarged lymph nodes were found. One in the right axilla, and the second close by, subpectoral. (My original dx in 2020 was in my left breast, I had a bilateral mastectomy).
I have had an ultrasound at my local breast center, and they are trying to move my biopsy appointment up from June 2.
I'm trying not to fall down a research rabbit hole of recurrence/metastases. Having been diagnosed with TN IDC the first time around, and having just turned 40 at that diagnosis, does not help all the emotions going through my head. I know waiting is the hardest part, but the fear is worse.
UPDATE: The nurse coordinator called me into the breast center today for my biopsy! She was not playing around! I should know by end of week.
Had anyone else have incidental findings on imaging that turned out to be recurrence/metastases on the opposite side of the original diagnosis?

@cactuspixie80 I’m sorry you are here again. My cancer was found on a routine mammogram that happened to show some lymph nodes under my arm on the right. My original cancer was on the left in 2015. They never found anything in the breast though they really tried so my cancer is called occult which my kids & grandkids get a kick out of because “it’s spooky,” I’m sending good thoughts your way for your biopsy.

At my original diagnosis I had a swollen lymph node in the axilla on my cancer side on both CT and ultrasound- birads 5. I had it biopsied and it came back benign. A follow-up CT ten months later showed it to still be swollen but stable and considered still benign. Apparently I had an immune system reaction at some point and it just never shrunk back down and most likely never will.

Hi @cactuspixie80 , we’re really sorry you have to come back here again, especially with all this new worry and uncertainty hanging over you.
We’re glad your team moved quickly to get the biopsy done. We know that waiting for test results can be really hard, especially with your history, but a biopsy is the only way to know for sure what’s going on.
We’ll be thinking. Please keep us posted when you feel up to it.
