  • I'm here — just had a revision to my breast reconstruction to gain more symmetry between my cancer breast (full mastechtomy w/ radiation) and natural breast (a Mastoplexy/breast lift w/ smaller implant) — so far so good!

My surgery date for double mastectomy is June 30th. I’m still kind of down and scared. I’m trying to decide between an AFC and Goldilocks and I don’t like either “choice.” I know my breasts don’t define me, but I don’t want to lose them either.

Hi @robynb73, welcome to our surgery group thread! We're sorry for the reasons that brought you here, and especially for these very-normal feelings and emotions you're encountering. If you're saddened by the thought of losing your breasts, the Goldilocks reconstruction option (if you're a candidate) might be the preferred choice, because it does re-create breast mounds using your own tissue. And if you later decide that you're not happy with the Goldilocks result, you can get a revision to an aesthetic flat closure; any future correction revisions would be covered by health insurance.

    Hi everyone! đź’—

We wanted to check in with you and see how things are going.

@klepcyk, how are you doing now? Has the pain improved at all since your mastectomy?

@sunflower5, has the stiffness in your arm gotten any better? Have you been able to talk with your surgeon or a physical therapist about it?

@mighty.mouse.6, how has your recovery been progressing since the revision?

@meldelaflower, you mentioned having many feelings and changes since your diagnosis and surgery. How are you doing now, both physically and emotionally?

@robynb73 , your surgery date was June 30. We've been thinking of you. How did everything go, and how are you feeling in these first days of recovery?

Please know we're thinking of you and would love to hear how you're getting on.

    Sincerely,
